Thanks Bethany. This is timely since I was just going to repurchase the CEF again. Do you have the complete ingredient list by any chance or point me to where I can see it?

Riley, what product do you want the ingredient list for? The IDS? I am happy to provide it if I have it.

I wanted to mention that I am having a little mini breakout at the moment. Granted, they are very tiny clogged pores on my forehead, but I have not had to deal with this during the last year of Environ, so it is definitely an Enpionce thing. Maybe it is mini purging of some sort?

Epionce website has a link to a PDF with full ingredient lists for all the products.

http://www.epionce.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/ProductCatalogue-2013.pdf
www.dermstore.com also has ingredient lists for the Epionce products.

Hi h.kitty!! Thanks so much for the catalogue. Bethany, I was interested in the Intense Defense Serum - the one that was compared to Skinceuticals CEF and the TNS.

Riley, FYI that it is a pretty lightweight, milky serum. It soaks right in, and you could definitely wear it under makeup.

So I am not sure which Epionce product is causing it, but I am experiencing some peeling and slight irritation around my nostrils, as well as some purging.

It could be the MelanoLyte Pro mask which I am using once a week (it increases exfoliation and I have only used it once). Or it could maybe be the Intensive Nourishing Cream (surprisingly) because it also helps with exfoliation.

Quote:

One of the three foundational technologies of the Epionce product line is called, “Keratolytic” technology. The word, Keratolytic, comes from a combination of kerato, pertaining to skin cells and lysis, which pertains to skin shedding.

In Epionce products, Keratolytic technology helps to unclog and cleanse pores while reducing redness and smoothing skin texture. Key ingredients include azelaic acid, zinc pyrithione, salicylic acid and willow bark extract. You will find this technology in the Lytics and also Intensive Nourishing Cream.

I will say that Environ never made me peel or break out, but it also didn't do anything for my pigmentation. Maybe this is a step in the right direction.

Btw, my BIL is trying the Lytic Plus on his sebaceous hyperplasia after I read this study:

http://www.epionce.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/6_ClinicalStudy_EpionceReducesSebaceousHyperplasia.pdf

I'll post whether or not he has any success with it.

The peeling is getting a little irritating, so I am going to stop using the Intensive Nourishing Cream for a while and see if that makes a difference.

I did some research, and apparently the Epionce products can cause some purging for 3 or 4 weeks. That would be consistent with the tiny little pimples I am seeing...at least they aren't big, deep ones!

I decided to fast track the purging, and am now using the Epionce Lytic product in the purging areas. Interestingly, when I used a sample 4-6 weeks ago, my face felt like it was on fire. Now that I have been using the Epionce products for about a month, the same product no longer stings so I assume that my skin barrier is much healthier now.

I am also adding the Intensive Cream back in since I don't have any in-person interviews on the immediate horizon, and don't need to worry about the peeling.

Yowza...I have been using the Lytic tx twice a day on problem spots, and now I am feeling a bit raw in places and am peeling again already. This stuff is stronger than I expected.

Regarding my BIL who is using the Lytic Plus on his sebaceous hyperplasia....my sister swears she is already seeing some improvement with his bumps. Shock however, she tried the same product on her face, and felt extreme burning for about 2 hours. It appears that men really do have tougher skin, as my BIL felt no burning and isn't peeling at all.

FYI..for those wondering, I am getting no product kickbacks for sharing my reviews. I have purchased all my products from a seller on eBay or Lovelyskin.com and have receipts for all items. Smile

I also had a ton of flaking from one of the Epionce products. I was using the Renewal Facial Cream. I stopped using that as I was not sure a product designed for dry/sensitive skin should do that!

Riley, I was pretty surprised by some of the reactions I am getting to these products...I was expecting something less irritating. I am going to finish up the products that I bought because I like the anti-inflammatory aspects, but I am pretty sure that I will not continue with so many products from this line. But we'll see for sure in a few more months.

Btw, I am definitely not giving up my Environ. It is one of a very few lines that has caused me zero problems.

Ugh...a friend was just over and asked why my face was so pink. Embarassed I knew it felt irritated from the Lytic, and that feedback pretty much confirmed what I already knew...it is strong stuff.

I am going to have to dial back from daily usage and try every 2 days instead. Once I acclimate to that, maybe I can move up from there.

I stopped using the Lytic all over my face, and am now just using it on problem areas like my nose once a day...no more irritation. The purging I was also experiencing since I started Epionce appears to have stopped, thank goodness. Now I just have to stick with the program and see how things look in the next couple of months.

An update on my BIL's sebaceous hyperplasia...he had 3 large ones, and they have already declined so much (and quickly) that my sister decided to not make him get them lasered off. I am just glad that the Lytic Plus worked for him, so I didn't have to hear about it if it failed!

I mentioned on a microcurrent thread that perhaps my fast results could be attributed to increased hydration since I started using Epionce. Here is the info I had read on their delivery system, though it is sadly missing the tech details we like to read.

The comparison pics are pretty though, lol.

Hmmm...that is a tough choice! But for the most multi-functionality, fastest results, and least irritation (thus far), I would say the Intensive Nourishing Cream, though it is far heavier than I typically like. I have seen significant changes in my skin since I started using it in mid-March though I did have some initial purging. (my first container has about a week left, so it lasted for 4+ months).

Quote:
The Epionce Intensive Nourishing Cream is a powerful product that utilizes the very best of Epionce ingredient science. It is the only product currently offered in the Epionce line that contains all three key Epionce technologies: anti-inflammatory, barrier repair and Keratolytic action.

However, I also really like the Lytic (acne clearing) and the new Intense Defense Serum....I'll weigh in again after I have used them longer.

FYI that most of these products have independent clinical studies comparing them to other major brands, which I really like.

http://www.epionce.com/resources/

Also, my primary source is Lovelyskin.com when they are having a 20% off sale...definitely more affordable then. (Now if EDS would just start carrying this!)

Sharing a post I found from BFG in 2009... This made me feel very comfortable with my combined Epionce/Environ protocol. However, when you add in the pigmentation lightening aspect, I feel I am using WAY too many products, sigh.

Barefootgirl wrote:
I've been communicating with a skincare professional (don't know all her credentials) who works in Dr. Thornfeldt's organization (medical expert on inflammation).

I asked her for advice on achieving the optimal balance between irritation which is conducive to skin rejuvenation and irration which turns into counterproductive inflammation.

In her response, she has referred to Epionce products which I expected since that is the company they are affiliated with - so I am planning to either use Epionce products or possibly look for similar formulations.

I find this information helpful, so I have decided to share it:

"We generally suggest using an Epionce Renewal product with retinoid use. The Renewal formulations have two distinct functions: to help calm inflammatory factors (that contribute to chronic inflammation) and to help build and strengthen the skin barrier. The retinoid encourages cell renewal by exfoliation, which induces an inflammatory response, but using the Renewal will help calm the process. So, think of the retinoid as a type of “mini chemical peel.” Generally, we suggest alternating Lytic use with retinoid use; for example – use the retinoid at night in place of Lytic; use the Lytic in the morning instead of the retinoid. Using a Lytic and retinoid at the same time might be too irritating for the skin.

L-Ascorbic acid would be applied in the same way, alternating application times. I suggest applying the vitamin C in the morning, and the Lytic at night time, followed by a Renewal product both AM and PM."

Hope this is helpful, BF

Cross posting from the ReAura thread:

great Bethany,

Are you saying that you followed the ReAura with the Epionce products?

Thanks, BFG

I was using the ReAura aftercare product immediately after the treatments, but did not continue them after that. I then used the Environ body cream, but my arms still looked pretty rough. I ended up switching to the Epionce Medical Barrier Cream a few weeks ago in the am, and am still using the Environ on my arms at night. I noticed over the last few days that my arms and hands are looking really good, so I guess things finally came together.

I don't want to harp on specific products that I personally happen to like, but I have seen a huge difference in both my face and arms recently, which I do attribute to barrier repair. I do think that many people are making (incorrect) assumptions on how to repair their barrier, however, and that only limits their age reversal/maintenance efforts.

I am listening to a recorded radio show on how a damaged skin barrier is really the primary cause of visible aging, and once I finish I will post the link for you. I'll also repost some previously shared articles in hopes that others will delve more into skin barrier knowledge since I think it is critical when using the ReAura.

bethany wrote:

Here is the radio show....very good info, and easier to digest for people who don't like to read clinical studies. It does contain the needed ratios of cholesterol, ceramides, and free fatty acids if you are comparing various products. Lots of info on inflammation too.

Eta: very interesting discussion in this recording on the rebound aspect of Rx pigmentation treatments...30% have rebound pigmentation due to inflammation irritation. Shock

Wow, bethany, amazing info! Thank you.

What is the difference between the Epionce Medical Barrier Cream ($46) and the Epionce Intense Defense Serum ($136) in terms of barrier repair? Can the latter be used right after an aggressive procedure? The IDS seems to be their star product, but it would be good to know if it is worth the $$$.

They are both good for oily skin types.
I am wondering if using Renewal Lite Facial Lotion ($94) would be even better for someone with oily skin.

Thank you!

I think hydration is very underrated. You can't have smooth, glowing skin if your skin is dry. And dry skin is more susceptible to wrinkling. From my experience finally getting my skin hydrated made all the difference.
