Thanks for posting your experience Havana. I do live in Canada, so I knew it would take some time, but was afraid that it had gotten lost.
I received a response from them. They said I had to wait until 09Dec10. If I haven't received it by then, they will either send me another one (I have to pay for the shipping) or they will give me a credit to use for the next purchase. The problem about having them send another bottle is that any replacement bottles have to be sent by UPS. I don't know whether any of you have had the same experience as I have had with UPS, but I won't have anything shipped from the US by them again. I ended up getting hit with an unexpected $35 bill when my item arrived. I had already paid over $20 for shipping. They charged me for EVERYTHING. It was ridiculous. It ended up costing me over $50 for $15 worth of product. They charge you for brokerage fees, etc for bringing it through customs. If I don't get it, I'll just take the credit and order it again from them. I'll still be out the shipping, but shipping through UPS really isn't worth it. |

I bought this on Ebay. But I'm not sure I like it. It does sink in, is colourless and it's definitely not greasy. But I think I prefer my usual Avene Creme Ecran - it does leave a pinkish cast on my skin but that helps in covering up my redness and leaves my skin looking very smooth, a bit like a primer. |

I finally got my sunscreen. I was very relieved !! I was afraid that it had been sent to the wrong house; that has happened a few times. Our postman isn't always attentive to the street name sometimes.
I tried the Devita for the first time this morning. It is the first time I have ever used a sunscreen on my face that I didn't feel like I had a sunscreen on. I put it over my KH Camomile cream (1% oxygen) and it worked great. What is very unique about this product for me is that there was no sunscreen smell, absolutely no white skin and no shine.
I have found my new sunscreen ... thanks to all of you - I can't believe I have a sunscreen that I love for my face and doesn't cost a fortune !!! |

Can you clarify if it's the body block or the face sunscreen that you are using? If it's the body block is it highly scented? |

I use the face sunscreen, DM. I don't consider it highly scented at all. I don't really smell much of anything with it honestly but maybe a very slight scent? (I have a bad nose, but I do react negatively to the severely fragranced skin care!) |

Thanks Riley,
Maybe next summer after I kill off my stock of Burnout I may give it a try just for grins!
The body block I am not so sure about that on the face, although I think some one was using it? |

Yep, I've used both the Devita Solar Protective Moisturizer (the "face" sunscreen) and Devita Solar Body block (the "body" sunscreen). I've used both on my face. I really don't notice too much difference between them. Both have a very faint (non-existent really) scent - neither bother me and I can be sensitive to scents.
The body version seems somewhat more moisturizing with the shea butter. It also contains retinol and some additional EO's. Both are very good and leave no white cast...it's really amazing how clear they go on given the % of zinc. |

I found the fragrance almost non-existent as well. There is something, but it is so mild and it fades so quickly that I barely noticed it.
It is, by far, the best sunscreen I've tried. |

Yes! I've used the face one and found it to be the BEST sunscreen in terms of texture! Its more like a moisturizer lotion rather than a sunscreen texture.
It has not given me any problems so far for my sensitive and acne prone skin.
For folks like me living in humid Asia, a separate moisturizer to lock in water in the skin is not really necessary unless I'm feeling really dry. |

love this product, thanks to this thread I went and ordered 6 bottles from Vitacost to be sent to Australia. The shipping was fast and so so was the shipping cost. The price of one bottle in Australia was equivalent to 4 from vitacost!! I even went to wholefoods last time I was in the States, they had one bottle left on the shelf. I was told it was so popular they sold out as soon as the got them in!! Thanks for the recommendation of this product. It's almost too good to be true for a sunscreen |

Thanks everyone - with all the RAH RAH RAHs here about Devita I put my first ever order in to Vitacost for a bottle each of the body & face forumulations. Kind of excited
Although Burnout sounds so cool.. I'd love to be able to say I use that! Although we probably don't get that here either.
On that note, in case anyone's interested, Whole Foods in Canada doesn't carry Devita (but they do carry the Badger), and it looked like the closest distributor was (something) Carrot in Toronto whose website didn't make it look like they did all too much shipping. |

Nimue - I just saw this after I posted on the your Elta review! I'm really enjoying the tinted Elta, but am now wanting to try the Devita. I've read so many good things about Devita SS and now with the higher % of Zinc Oxide and great Vitacost pricing - I have to order.
A general question - how much SS should I be using on face/neck for proper protection? I had a SA at Sephora tell me that I didn't need much of the Clarins UV at all. But I just don't feel like I'm protected using the tiny amount she suggested. TIA. |

Nimue,
Thanks for your reply to my thread "Too Good To be True"? Devita Sunscreen.
What you commented did really ease my worry.
I will only use it during the winter & won't use it during the summer and those days that I will do work-out.
As I live in Asia, it is pretty hot & wet there in summer; thus, I may use Sofina, which is water resistant, then. |

You should put on as much as you feel comfortable with, aim for 1/4 to 1/3 teaspoon for your face. Don't listen to anyone who tells you otherwise. Usually people who sell expensive sunscreen say oh don't worry this tube will last you 6 months! It's garbage. When I'm applying to just face, neck, hands, maybe chest I go through about 2 oz of sunscreen a month. |

Well although Devita is not the *best* choice for summer I would still choose Devita over many other sunscreens that have less zinc oxide, and especially over any chemical sunscreens. There are a couple other physical sunscreen that I would recommend that have more water resistance than Devita. There's burnout of course which would be my first choice, then there is Trukid sunscreen and there's Pratima. All great options. |

The Solar body block is now with 19% Zinc oxide...and i had been ordering it from Vitacost for a year till i found it for alot less on Lucky Vitamin. I also used the face lotion till i looked at the ingredients and decided to just use the body block on my face also...since i use a very good face cream with actives on top of my sunscreen...last time i looked Lucky Vit. had it for $17. for 6 oz. |

Nimue,
2 questions:
1. does Burnout Kid leave any trace of whitecast?
2. How do you find Pratima? I have been keeping an eye on it but Pratima cannot ship products internationally for the time being. If it is as transparent as Devita and as matte as Sofina (Devita makes my skin sheen and shiny), I will ask my friend in the States to buy one tube and ship it to me. |

Burnout Kids does not have any white cast. However, it does have *more* of a white cast than devita, because everything has more of a white cast than devita. Even though there's no white cast it's not as "too good to be true" transparent as devita. Does that make sense? It looks a little white when you first put it on, but that quickly goes away and it';; be white if it gets into your hair.
And every single of the sunscreens I mentioned are more mattifying and more water resistant that Devita. Burnout I would say has the most mattifying power /water resistance. I’m not exactly sure how Pratima and Trukid compare. Pratima is fairly thin and watery and Trukid is thicker and more moisturizing. Although I don’t know which one is more protection for the hot and sweaty days, Pratima is possibly going to be nicer to apply. Trukid also has the closest thing to a white cast, but it goes away when you rub it in and it sinks in. However Pratima has so few ingredients and it feels so thin that I don’t trust it as much as I trust Burnout and Trukid.
It’ll just come down to what your skin prefers. That’s why Burnout is my favorite- somehow their combination of ingredients is what my skin responds best to. Any other skin care has gone out the window because I don’t feel like I need it, I don’t even have breakouts anymore. It could be that I got older and my skin changed, it could be that I found a skin care routine that works for me. |

Ok, I just want to say WOW! I don't order a whole lot online, but I put my order in with Vitacost just minutes before I posted that on Sunday. I got my order (here in Vancouver, Canada) TODAY! That's less than 48 hours. I bought the Devita for face & the one for body, paid $4.50 or so postage, plus another $4.50 at the door, so $45 total.
The guy on the phone at Vitacost was really sweet & polite with a charming southern accent too.
So I'll be trying out my Devita pretty damn soon! |

Nimue,
Thx for your detailed comments; seems that I will buy Burnout Kid as well.
Where did you purchase yours?
To me, finding a holy grail sunscreen is as difficult as finding a pillow; it works for other people but may not be for you!
Just like Marie Veronique, many people speak highly of it. I agree that ingredients of MVO sunscreen are great; however, I get no luck and my skin doesn't agree with it.
I have "no tint" and "light tint" but find both leave white cast on my skin; worst still, they are very dry and I do have great difficulty of applying on my skin-flaky & blotchy.
At first, I thought that it might be my problem; however, a number of people in Asia also had the same issue.
http://www.vivawoman.net/2010/11/24/marie-veronique-organics-sun-protection-products/#comments
If Pratima and/or Burnout are not my cup of tea (matte, non greasy and no white cast), then I may keep using Sofina.
http://allaboutskinlightening.blogspot.com/2010/09/product-review-sofina-perfect-uv-lucent.html
One thing that I don't like Sofina is that it has lots of silicones that I try keep it away from my topical products. |

Not Nimue, but I tried both the Burnout and the Pratima. I did not like either of those. The Burnout leaves a very tacky feel to my skin and the Pratima, which smells like heaven to me, was horrible, greasy and just really nasty. In my opinion there is no "one best" sunscreen. It depends on how it feels on Your skin, how they protect your skin (some pigment more easily than others and what works for one will most definitely not work for another!), and what you will wear consistently every day. |
