RileyGirl,
Your comments are helpful; I would not harbor any high hopes then!
Just like Invisible Zinc, I did have high hope on it; 2 friends and I found that it was too tacky for our skin. |

I definitely would tell you to try them, summer2004, as we all do react differently, but just wanted to give my 2 cents on how they worked on my skin. (Unfortunately trying to find the perfect sunscreen can cost a lot of money!!) |

Riley,
Yes, I will try. As I said, I love to see different views and comments.
Yes, MVO has cost me a lot of money. |

| I tried the Devita Sunscreen (facial moisturizer version - not the body) and gave it a good week but couldn't stand it anymore and swapped in away on MUA. For some reason, though the ingredient's list looked pretty safe for my skin, it turned my face pinky red and stung! Also, with all the conflicting reports that it could not possibly contain that amount of zinc, I was iffy on continuing on the sunscreen. Some fellow friends from another forum have also reported trying it, even slathering it on, and having still freckled when going outside. Since I burn/freckle easily (I am very pale), I'm steering clear of Devita for now. HTH! |

Very interesting. This just goes to show that there is no one sunscreen for everyone! I had the freckling happen with the "old" Devita sunscreen, but with the new one I haven't had any freckles pop up at all. I am still very pleased with this sunscreen. |

Regarding the irritation, I am not surprised. Haven’t tried the new one yet, but the old one definitely irritated my eyes. I say to use something else on your face and use the devita on your neck, chest, hands, etc. That’s what I’m going to do if I find that the new Devita irritates my eyes as well.
Regarding the protection- Devita *does* have all that zinc oxide and as long as you don’t sweat it off or come into contact with water it will protect you fine. I believe ay freckling reports are due to Devita’s complete lack of water resistance. |

| My Devita is the one with 19% Zinc Oxide and it does not irritate my eyes. |

I finally tried the reformulated version. It's a little bit thicker and more substantial in consistency than the original Devita. That only makes sense, since it has more zinc oxide. I believe that the new version almost certainly has more water resistance than the original version, so I wouldn't be as afraid to wear it in the summer. (saying it's more substantial than the original devita is not saying much, it still doesn't feel like a sunscreen)
However, it's still irritating anywhere near my eyes, though slightly less than the original version. Because of the sensitivity, I'm going to continue to use Burnout on the face but I can use Devita everywhere else. Overall, it's an outstanding economical body sunscreen.
(But even if I didn't have any sensitivity, I would probably still stick to burnout for stuff like hiking in the summer) |

I've been away from the forum for awhile, but I found this and just couldn't help but respond that Devita's new formula remains HG for me and DH. Burnout was too greasy and tacky for me, unless I'm at the beach. DH went to the dermatologist in the fall after a summer of bike riding in Pennsylvania (plenty of heat and sun, and he goes out for 1-5 hours at a time--love him, but don't understand him! ) The dermatologist said she was impressed by how un-tanned he was giving how often he's outside. Face is Devita and he uses KineSys fragrance free (chemical ss but less harmful) for his body. That was enough proof for both of us!
We're using Devita through the winter, and he layers a regular moisturizer underneath (I don't need any additional most days--though it's been a crazy, cold winter!). MMU isn't enuf protection for me, FYI. HTH! |

| Found the Devita Solar Moisturizer 30 on sale today on Amazon. Buy one get one free. I am getting 4 bottles for total cost of $38.50 that's including shipping. Sorry, can't post the link since I am new. It's the $15.60 a bottle - sold by Devita. |

I have spent 2 hours in the sun watching the waterfalls and got a tan
And I have applied Devita twice. May be the drops of water from the waterfalls washed the Devita away. |

Oh no. That is a shame, RussianSunshine. Thanks for reporting back. I haven't had any issues, but I haven't been in the sun that long with the Devita. |

Yeah, riley, I will consider using a heavier sunscreen when in the sun! |

I think wearing make-up helps too. I spend allot of time in the sun, and even if I'm going to the beach for a swim, I apply make-up. I've noticed that sometimes my chest area can get sunburnt (even with sunscreen on) but my face manages to stay ok. I also wear a hat of course. |

Hmm, I'm not too sure how well the Devita does in terms of providing pigmentation protection. I have the SPF 30 Body Block, which I use for my face. I love the texture & the fact that there's no white cast, feels light & moisturizing, but not oily, no tackiness. However, when I was out at the park for a couple hours recently, I think I got a bit of color? I tan *very* easily, and I'm also on doxycycline, which makes skin sensitive to the sun. Perhaps it's my imagination? The weather here is still cool, so I don't think I sweat the protection off. I just want to make sure that my hyperpigmentation is getting the protection it needs. Perhaps I'll just save it for cooler days or on my body. It's a shame, I love the texture.
BTW, I read somewhere that the aloe plant is related to onions, garlic & asparagus. Perhaps this is why people's eyes water with the Devita, since aloe is high on the ingredient list?
RussianSunshine, I guess the Devita didn't work for you, but does everyone else feel like it provides good protection from UVAs? |

| Love Devita sunscreen - I have nothing but positive comments about it. It took me forever to find the perfect sunscreen for my sensitive, oily skin. This is IT. |

| Update: I still use and love Devita Solar Body Block for my face. I also love it for my arms/hands. I am obsessive about wearing sunscreen so I put the Devita on 1st thing in the morning because my house has lots of windows. Devita is my everyday sunscreen and lately I have been layering it with TiZo. We sell TiZo in the Derm office where I work and I like it because it has a flattering tint to it. At first I was skeptical about TiZo but I discovered when I applied it on my patients, their skin looked really good and most like the texture as long as it is thinly applied. What I do is put some TiZo on my skin over my serum (like a light foundation) and then apply Devita Body over it generously covering my face, neck, chest. I am really liking this combination because the TiZo camouflages any redness I might have. Also I feel more confident that I am covering every area with good effective sunblock. However, when I exercise outdoors (running) I wear Burnout. I have to admit I am uneasy about the sheerness and lack of white cast in the Devita. Every other zinc oxide sunscreen has it. What makes Devita different? I plan on calling the company to get their explanation. |

| Not all zinc based sunscreen has a white tint. Shiseido isn't white, Olay isn't, most new zinc based suncreens are clear. I live in a very sunny location and use Devita and have never even gotten pink. It works great for me. I also love the fact that it gets the safest rating at EWG's Skin Deep which rates safety of skincare products. |

| I think I read on MUA that the Devita one wasn't stable or something. Is this still true or have they reformulated it recently? |
