Hi Everyone,
I hope it's okay to ask a question in this thread?
I'm just so confused about the Obagi system - I've seen that they have so many products and product lines. I have no idea what to use or in what order to use them!
What Obagi line or selection of products would you wonderful folks suggest for someone who has aging skin and pigmentation issues?
Thanks so much in advance and thanks to skinprofusion for starting this informative thread! |

Obagi Nu Derm. This is great for aging skin and pigmentation problems. You have to be willing to go through a red/peely/flaky stage, but afterwards your skin will be beautiful. Will it get rid of all your wrinkles, no. It will take care of fine lines. If you have freckles, they will be gone in 18 weeks. You need to follow the program and use the correct amount of products, and always use sunscreen. If you are faithful, use the products as recommended, then you will have great results. You will need to stay on maintenance afterwards, because just like with everything else you use, once you stop your skin will slowly revert back to how it used to be. Check out obagi.com for really good information, as well as skincare-md.com. You will learn a lot. Do a lot of research, ask a lot of questions, and if possible get to see someone who can help you through at least the 1st cycle. |

No problem. Good luck if you use Obagi. It is the best stuff out there, in my opinion! |

Supposedly it makes your skin less sensitive as it "recalibrates" it back to before we broke down the skin barrier with products, etc.
I am giving it a shot even though I also have sensitive skin, and am using the "Sensitive Protocol" which introduces the products a bit more slowly. |

Chubbycat, I am certainly no expert on the ZO products. I have only started using them myself a few weeks ago! The difference between them in my opinion is that the nu derm is medical and the ZO is over the counter. (I know you can buy nu derm over the counter, as well, but nu derm is usually sold in the doctor offices so they can monitor your progress, etc). I don't believe the ZO line will be quite as powerful as the nu derm, yet it is still results oriented and I think will still yield great results. The ZO line also uses more of the "newer" ingredients that are available now for anti-aging.
As for what products I would recommend, since I don't know what your goals are, I would just suggest you start with the jumpstart kit and see how you like the products. |
Hi,
What's the main difference between ZO and Nu-derm? How much ZO is much more expensive? Thanks! |

I think with rosacea, your best bet is to see a derm and get their recommendation. For acne, the Obagi Clenziderm may be an option if you are not looking to correct any hyperpigmentation issues! |

The Nu Derm would be more for hyperpigmentation and the ZO would be more for general anti-aging. HTH! |

Wow, I will definitely look into Obagi.
PSF's skincare is quite nice so far but not all of my problem skin characteristics are gone yet.
Maybe I will try some after I've finished with my PSF skincare.
Thank you for everyone's reviews! |

bethany,
Do you also apply retin-A under eyes? I have tried for few months, but it seems not much improvement, so I have stopped. I have searched from some websites and they said can't use retin-A under eyes.
Thanks! |

You can apply Retin A under your eyes. From what I have read, the best results with Retin A come after using it nightly for 1 year, then backing its usage down to a few times a week for maintenance. Also, remember, Retin A will help fine lines, but not deep wrinkles. |

It's so hard for a product junkie like me to use only Retin A at night but it seems to still be more effective than most other things! |

I agree, amonavis. It is hard for me, as well. That is why I use eye creams on top! Also, you still will get benefit of using the Retin A every other night, and that way you have the other nights to use whatever product you want. (I have never made it using Retin A nightly for 1 year, sadly, as I would like to see the full benefits from it!) |

Good point. I am very curious how the benefits would compare of using retin A every night VS. every second night?
There are so many good skin care products out there with different benefits. Its obvious that in order to get the benefits of a product you must use it regularly. Therefore my other problem is, what other product should I choose to use to go along with my Retin-A when so many exciting products exist! |

Hi, would you recommend using Ratin-A only or Ratin-A+Blender every night for a year? Thanks! |

I'm wondering, what the the benefits of using Obagi over just getting a TCA peel (either at home or at the derm)? It seems like the results are the same, but with the TCA peel you get one week of peeling/downtime rather than a few weeks with Obagi. It seems like I would rather just get it over with quickly! |

That's a good question, chubbycat09! I think it really is a personal choice. Retin A alone for 1 year probably, but I want to keep the mix of RA/Blender in a few times a week to keep the freckles at bay! |
