Congratulations on losing the red and angry! Dryness is to be expected I guess, but with the angry inflammation gone maybe the sebum glands will come back into action over time. |

Thank you, Lotusesther. I actually am hoping that the Environ Colostrum will help with the dryness, but time will tell! |

What do cytokines / stem cells actually do for the skin? Ive seen some before and after photos on another forum and I dont understand what they do - do they build collagen, moisturise, exfoliate? How exactly do they antiage!?
Thanks |

I think if you check in the skincare forum section, you'll find a lot of threads on this. Thats were all the science is on it. Where hoping it makes us look 21 again! |

Most skin care is based on what works in wound care. Cytokines (including growth factors) stimulate wound repair, can tune down inflammation, and kind of rev up skin renewal. Unfortunately, for the effects of cytokines on intact, ageing skin there is very little scientific data. Still, the very few studies that have been done seem to indicate thicker skin, increased collagen and less roughness/texture improval, as well as improved skin tone (less redness because of less inflammation). Compared to vehicle, that is - we have no idea how the effectiveness is compared to other actives. |

I'd live to give Anteage a try before I settle on Lifeline, though. Although someone said it was also a little sticky. I wanted to try a sample first, but there are no longer any to be had. Don't think I'll buy without trying first.
BTW - although my review of Reluma may sound a bit negative, it's in comparison to Lifeline. In general, I'm liking these stem cell formulations - although I can't claim any real results yet (and honestly, it's too soon to expect results), there is certain... niceness... about my skin that I can't quite put my finger on. Whichever brand I choose in the long run, I think I'm staying on the stem cell train. |
I agree with the AA sticky comment, unless you use a thin layer and don't put anything over it. I layered my Environ over AA the other day, and ended up washing everything off an hour later because my skin felt sticky. at the end of the day I need something that layers well with other products. |
Have you tried Lifeline? I find it plays very well with other products... esp no waiting time, you can apply on top right away if you wish |

So, after trying both Reluma and ISCO Lifeline, I have decided I prefer Lifeline. I find the texture and smell much nicer, it sinks in much better, and while it is a bit drying I have decided I'll just apply a moisturiser afterwards - which is after all what I'm doing with Reluma.
While I didn't like the Reluma serum (smells like off meat!) and cream (smears rather than sinks in), I must say I'm mad about the cleanser! I love the smell and creamy foam!
In terms of results, my skin looked better in the morning after Reluma, but that may be because of the extra moisturiser. I'm going to order some Valmont cream to use with the Lifeline as I suspect it will give the same effect.
I also didn't like that the serum was sticky afterwards. I know some have said it's only for a minute or so, but on me it stayed sticky longer than that, and when I looked in a magnify mirror last night I was horrified at the amount of blackheads around my nose! I'm not blaming the serum directly, but I think if your skin stays sticky and you touch it later with fingers that may be dusty from touching other things (that magazine that's been lying by your bed untouched for a week, etc), you can clog your pores more easily. |
I'd send your ReLuma back, sounds like you got a bad set. Mine has zero smell. I'd be upset and want my money back! I could never put anything on my face that smelled as you describe. YUCK. I kinda agree with you on the cream, it does smear on my face but within seconds its gone.
I am glad your liking Lifeline, Pandal loves it too. I look forward to your reviews. |
I got my RL today, and ran to the bathroom to use it. I have to agree with Karenlee....it smelled horrible (more like mildew than old meat), and I had to immediately wash my face to get it off.
I am sure it must be a bad batch because no one would buy it if it smelled like this regularly! |

I can assure you my face does not smell LMAO!! I find this funny actually, well not really, but I can't even wear stuff with perfume in it much less locker room odors.
Ok just smeared in back of my hand and have it up to nose, there is a tinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnny teeny tiny bit of some odd smell, not foul, not perfumie, and now its all gone, whatever that was. Ok re-checking, still gone, hand just smells normal.
I am clueless what yall are smelling. But I would not keep it |

you should definitely send it back. You are right I certainly would not use it if it smelled that bad.
I put some on my hand and sniffed earlier and made my daughter and hubby sniff. Neither could detect any odour at all on the serum. I am sure it should not smell. |

Comment: Hi, I just received my Reluma serum, and think there may be something wrong with it because it smells like mildew....I had to wash my face immediately because the smell was so strong. What are my return options? Thanks!!
Hi Bethany
The ReLuma serum typically has a slightly "medicinal" smell. Our returns policy is set out on the website. Here is a link: http://www.truthinaging.com/returns-policy
Generally, we do not accept returns on products that have been opened and used. If you do think that the serum is in some way defective we can take it up with ReLuma on your behalf.
Best wishes

Let us Know, I was standing at sink, looking out at the flowers and it suddenly dawned on me I was standing there smelling the back of my hand ! But happy to report still no smell, also hubby is a huge snuggler, when I am not throwing him to the other side of the bed and screaming during a hot flash, and I can assure you he'd say OMG what is on your face! |

Trust me...this was so bad I had to wash it off immediately. He would throw you out of bed if you smelled like this! |

I would tell them its not a medicinal smell and to please take it up with RL on your behalf, I'd also email RL myself. I did not realise they have a no return policy. So def contact reluma yourself and let them know your product has a FOUL smell. Slight medicinal should not be foul. |

Totally agree,
Sorry I am sick but I have 2 sets one from TIA and one from Cell Vitals and neither have any detectable odor to me and I have used right over my eyes that is a huge indicator for me if there is any odor my eyes tear like mad!
Sorry you are experiencing this Bethany just verifying that what you got is OFF and I would tell Marta about this thread and what others are saying!
Good Luck,
Passing back out now. |

I definitely do think the serum is defective...I verified with other RL users on the EDS forum what theirs smell like, and mine is nothing like that.
So you are saying that you will not take back a defective product?
Hi Bethany
You can certainly return a defective product and we will send it to ReLuma for lab analysis and obtain a replacement for you from ReLuma. Your email will be copied to our shipping department and you will be contacted on Monday during normal business hours to arrange a return.
Thank you and have a wonderful weekend.

Yep! I'm just glad I could verify that it doesn't normally smell like that. I squirted a little more on my hand just to make sure I wasn't overreacting, and I now think that it smells like a mixture of mildew and dead fish. |

I pressed the "Buy" button at the same time you did, but I'm so far away, I haven't received mine yet. I'll be annoyed if I have to send mine back. |

I had to stop using my Reluma eye serum, sigh. Only because I used AnteAge two nights in a row and had a reaction. Forgot the name of the skin condition but my eye area is a bit red/pink and then went into being scaly/flaky (guess like eczema). Only has happened to me a few times in the past.
The good news is that my skin gets on fine with the Reluma though, so I'll stick to that only. I only used the AnteAge because I have so much left and thought why not but it's a big "no-no" now. |

You can always use any left over stem cell product as a night cream for your hands. In general it is too expensive to use as a hand cream, but if you can't use it on your face, your hands are a good alternative. The plus side is that you still get to evaluate the product - or at least to continue to see if the cytokines work. |

The Reluma one you mean? It doesn't really have a smell and it's moisturizing, which is great. Out of the other 2 lines I've tried (Lifeline & AnteAge) this one works best for me.
Good idea Panda, will do, thanks. I think I am sensitive to one of the ingredients in AnteAge or the Accelerator that goes with it. Not uncommon for me, has happened before.
Tiny, babies are good, 30 weeks now, both doctor and specialist want me to get to 38. TBH, I'm grateful I made it this far. Very grateful.
Ooohhh, I got my Reluma serum from TIA today. Will try it out tonight. |
