hello all,

I noticed a small white painful bump inside of my nose. It looks like its filled wih some fluid. Ive been puttin an antibiotic ointment on it, but its dere and still as big!

What could have caused this? ok, this is kinda gross but i pulled a few hairs out and now I am not sure if i might have damaged the tissue and get some bad infection.

What should I do? Was it the plucking that caused this?

help please!

It sounds like you've got a pimple/spot in your nose, these things can happen... I'd pop it and then let it heal, but I don't know if that is the right thing to do...

I know this is years later but how did you go? I have the same thing now! I just found it today...is it an ingrown hair? Its white and hardish so I am not sure if I should try and pop it (urgghh)

No I don't think it's an ingrown, just a regular pimple... I get them all the time, nothing to worry about! Just a little painful

I dont think its a pimple...its hard and not painful...very odd....still its white doesnt bleed or scab so I doubt if its anything to worry about..maybe a skin cluster? yikes will have to get it checked soon....

I get them on occasion too...I use the end of a bobby pin to pop them. It is most likely a clogged pore or from an infected hair follicle.

This is a pic I posted for someone who could not visualize the bobby pin solution, which is why it says blackhead. But it works on white ones too! Very Happy

Bethany, you are very clever. I just spent $9.95 on a Tweezerman contraption that does the same thing. Granted it is stainless steel and can be sanitized by boiling. Haven't tried it yet, as I want to work on some milia under my eye and it seems a little daunting.

Be really carefull when you are using your tweezerman to get rid of milia under your eye. I know because I made an absolute hash of it! Ended up with an enormous scab followed by weeks of a big red mark. Probably wont happen to you because youre probably not as stupid as me (Id had a couple of drinks before I decided then was the perfect time to do it!)
If I could do it again, it pop the top ever so slightly with a pin first, use the small end to apply pressure and then use the pin very gently to help tease the contents out.
Id expected it all to just come out quite easily, but its tougher than it looks. Also if you cant get it after a couple of minutes. Dont keep trying. Go to a proffesional! Good luck!

I have the tweezerman tool, and really don't like it. Sad

And Lscott is right...it is always best to poke a zit or milia with a clean needle first...that way the skin will not tear when you express it. But that is not necessary for blackheads.

did anyone try acid to get rid of the milia? My bf has milia around his eye so I gave him AHA souffle to put on it every other day (and told him to wear sunscreen and be careful w/it).

It seems to be working...but very slowly. I thought you were never supposed to pop things....not saying I don't but I usually really try not to.

I got one of these every once in a blue moon but it's painful, and yea I always popped it. It's inside my nose, so I didn't worry about its leaving a mark no my skin. Then it healed up on its own.

Hi... I get some milia too around my eyes... and even had 1 on each eye lid... strangest thing...

I used a certain pumpkin mask that is NOT SUPPOSED to be used on eyes... but I did it... for as long as I could stand... including the skin just below the eye... It took about a week maybe 2 (I can't remember for sure) for the spot to loosen up (masked 2-3 times, plus scrubbing with the derm clothes)... but was then able to use my tweezerman to work it right out... some are more stubborn... a thin, thin, thin, needle would work...

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy That's the funniest thing I have seen for extract the blackhead or white pimple. Use the specialist blackhead Remover Tool Acne Plimple EXTRACTORS needle pls or Tretino. Remeber to disinfect before using any tool. I see some sellers in ebay are selling. For example: http://cgi.ebay.com.hk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350112039810&indexURL=#ebayphotohosting

Could be a small sebaceous cyst too. I had one once and nicked it with a scalpel to express the foul-smelling waxy stuff out of it. Nasty, I know.

I occasionally pluck some nose hairs now and haven't had any recurrence of cysts, so I don't think that's what caused it, at least not in my case, since I wasn't plucking at the time I had the cyst.

On a related note, I used to get bumps but on my eyelid, they were caused particularly by an infected hair follicle with trapped sebum secreted by overactive sebaceous glands, and a way to get around the bump was to pull out the eyelash directly above it so as to drain the waste matter. that could explain what happened to your nose.

If I were you, I would have gone to hospital once I notice that, since we always can not see it and deal with it properly. Do not touch it by your hands, this would make your bump much worse.
