I'm new here, discovered this website through lip augmentation.com.
I've been using the OCM with 75/25 castor/olive oil mix with GREAT results! BUT I'm concerned about one thing When I wipe it all off with my damp cloth, I have to do it very firmly because the OCM just doesn't rinse off say like a soap mixture would. I'm concerned this wiping will stretch or wrinkle my skin especially around the eyes. (I also use it in this area to remove eye makeup, if it's not okay, someone please let me know)
Am I 'doing it wrong' by having to wipe off hard? |

I know exactly what you mean, this is the main reason why I am not a big fan of OCM, it just does not want to come off!!!
I found myself having to cleanse again after OCM.
I too would be interested in any sugestions. |

- I have not experienced difficulties getting it off. What I've done is simply rinsed my cloth and wiped my face til it all came off...could take like 10 rinses of the cloth but it worked, and without having to wipe as firmly as you seem to be doing...
I'm thinking that it might be extra difficult to wipe off when you have such a high proportion of Castor Oil???.. as it is a thick oil.
Using the ACV toner afterwards should also help with the last oil residue... |

Hmmmmm, let me ask,
Are you using a warm/hot wash cloth and letting it rest on your face until it starts to cool? Then wiping gently? Or are you just using a wash cloth to wipe it off when you are done rubbing?
I am an OCM lover, but I found I get better results when I let a wash cloth rest and really open my pores to remove both the oil mixture and the dirt/make-up. I gently wipe off and it does take 2-3 times. I follow with a HH Dr. H and then Thayers Rose toner (alcohol free witch hazel with aloe and Vit E).
I think if you like the feeling of a completely naked face then the OCM may feel too oily for you. For example, If you have ever used Noxzema (?) then that feeling of nothing on your face (it strips all oils and dirt off) could be your definition of clean. That was what clean felt like to me when i was a teen. Between Noxzema and Sea Breeze I was so used to not having anything on my face that when I learned that a good cleanser 'emulisifies' dirt that my face didn't feel clean to me. It took me awhile to change my version of what clean felt like. Now I enjoy the dewy texture of my face after the OCM. At night I do slather on my oils because in the morning they have all absorbed and my skin feels amazing. I love oils now and I never would have believed that was possible after years of avoiding excess face oil.
Hope it helps and if OCM doesn't work for you then that is ok. There is lots of ladies here with experiences similiar to yours and can offer advice on products for your skin type. That is why this forum rocks! Good luck! |

Maybe you're not getting your towel hot enough? My OCM comes off 1st pass, but I have a hot towel that really opens everything up. Make sure you're using a soft enough cloth too.
I agree with Deanne that it may be your perception of what clean feels like. I use the OCM on myself <obviously, lol> and on hubby. Afterward our faces feel clean and soft. Haven't experienced any dryness. But - I think that's from playing with the ratios in the oils.
OCM is great for makeup removal! It melts mine off right away.

I have to agree with the others,
I've never had to "scrub" the OCM oils off my face. Gently is definitely the key ... that and making sure that you've opened the pores properly first [warm/hot washcloth left on the face until it starts to cool].
That said, there is certainly a way to make OCM more "rinseable" ... just add a capsule or two of lecithin [the contents of the capsules ... not the capsules themselves]. Lecithin is an emulsifier ... and when mixed with the oils does little ... but when water is added, it helps to rinse it clean.
I did that once ... just to see what it was like, but I didn't like it nearly as much.
I also agree that your idea of "clean" may be at fault as well. You don't want that tight feeling ... because that means that your everything has been stripped from your skin ... and that only encourages your face to become more oily in the long run.

I have broken capillaries on / under my nose so I can't use a steaming hot towel on my face which I really like and enjoy. After OCM I always use Kleenex to wipe off the oil first and use a warm towel. 2X is always enough to give me a very clean face. |

I do use a hot towel and do not have a problem I use much less of castor oil because it is so viscous. I just started this and really like it. |

Thank you ladies for the quick replies.
I don't mind oily 'feeling' left on my face after the ocm, I don't feel it has to be 'noxema' clean. BUT the lite residue left on my eyes does bother me because it actually 'slides' into my eyes throughout the day. It doesn't hurt but sort of irritates, I find myself blinking alot.
so I quess the lesson here is not to put the ocm on my eyes, I 'll use a regular wash for that. |

you could try a lighter oil. i started off using castor oil and oo for ocm and i had the same experience as you- it took forever to get off. now that i'm using sunflower oil, a couple of swipes with a warm towel and i'm done. |

I may be wrong, but I honestly think that is the problem: too much castor oil! I don't use as much castor oil because not only is it sticky and hard to remove, but also it makes my skin itchy. I sometimes do without it, with results just as good, if not better. But mostly I do put in some in my OCM mix simply for the feel-good purpose - like in the back of my head the OCM would work better if I had the CO mixed in. |

I felt the same way when I first tried ocm. I was so used to makeup coming right off with cleanser. I was using the wash cloth to wipe off the oils and makeup over and over and it was annoying to my skin.
Now, after I steam my face with the hot wash cloth, I set it aside and use those white cotton rounds you get at the store next to cotton balls. They are really soft and they fit nicely around the eye area too. I just get it moist and use two or three when I have makeup to remove and one when for no makeup. When the last cotton round comes off clean I know I've gotten it all without killing my skin. My face ends up being really clean and soft after.
Also, you may just need to massage the oils in a little longer, especially around the eyes because eye makeup is tougher to dissolve.
But, the cotton rounds allow you to really get in and around the eye to wipe everything away so it's not dripping in throughout the day.
Also, I use 25% co and 75% evoo |

Ahhhh, now I understand. I have the same problem at times. Usually when I try to do it too quick I end up with the 'oil-eyes'. Yes, I agree very annoying! The only thing I can suggest is not to rush around the eye area. Someone suggested cotton balls when you remove the eyes makeup. If you find a solid fix then please post it. I'm afraid i don't have a good answer for you on this aspect of OCM.
Also, in the mornings if you use OCM, maybe just avoid the eyes (since you cleaned them the night before). That could avoid that blurry vision during the day.) FYI: That is how I know I got a little in my eyes, when I try to read something and I can't seem to focus right and need to blink like crazy. |
