I have been having a problem with my mascara's.
It seems after i have my mascara on for awhile my eyelashes hurt, at the base. I also noticed a little bump at the base of my eyelashes on one eye. Could this be an allergic reaction?

What kind of mascara do you use? It sounds like the follicle at the base of your lashes get clogged from it, but then again, I'd think it would get clogged on more than just one eyelash if that was the case. Hmm...so, when you do not use mascara this doesn't happen? Have you tried switching brands, maybe? Sorry, I couldn't be of more help. :P

Well i always use loreal. and maybe about two months ago i noticed my eyelashes felt sore to touch, almost like they would fall out if i touched them... i took off my mascara. and thought the mascara went bad, bought a new one and the same thing happened. i tried two other brands and the same thing is happening. plus the little bump at the base of my eyelashes on one eye keeps coming back when i put mascara on.

lol what is happening to my body... so many changes.

I've had the same reaction as you, and I've found the cause to be one of two reasons. Usually it is the brand - I have to use the purest kinds of mascara I can find, the two that give me zero problems are Dr Hauschka and Lavera. My second choice is Ecco Bella which is MUCH nicer, but it is slightly irritating.

I also get this reaction if my mascara is too old. Since you state that you bought brand new mascara and experienced the same problem I doubt this is the reason.

Do your eyes still hurt when you don't wear mascara all day?

chimera,

Thanks for replying.

My eyes do not hurt at all when I don't wear mascara. It is almost like i have developed an allergy to something in the mascara's. Where can i buy Lavera, or Ecco Bella?

Do your eyes have this problem only when you wear mascara?

My eyes have reacted to liquid eyeliner, too, but it's mostly to mascara (probably since that is what I wear the most). You can find Lavera mascara atwww.saffronrouge.com , or you can do a search from their websitewww.lavera-usa.com . Hopefully EDS will pick up this line...Very Happy.

Ecco Bella can be ordered atwww.eccobella.com or you can usually find it sold at a health food store. This is always my second choice as it does somewhat irritate my eyes - I save it for special occasions because it DOES look fabulous for a natural product.

Good luck!!

Thanks.

And now that you mention it, i have worn liquid liner once. It didnt seem to bother me until i went to take it off. looked like it was taking skin off my lid when i tried washing it off and it was all red.

I will def look into your suggestions. thanks again

How about tinting your lashes and skipping the mascara for a while? The Ardell really makes tinted lashes look just as good as wearing mascara, without the hassle.
