I know this isn't a review, but Contact Lenses have been mentioned several times in this forum, so I want to post this warning:
I just read an article by New Scientist Magazine. (A reputable British publication.) It was a warning to all contact lens wearers. It seems there is an amoeba out there that dwells in tap water, and if it gets into your eyes, will burrow into the cornea causing extreme pain and blindness. It is also quite difficult to treat. Risk of infection is somewhat rare, but does occur with regularity in Britain, the U.S. and several other countries.
Contact lens wearers are especially susceptible, so we are warned not to wash our faces while wearing contacts, and never handle lenses with wet hands. (And don't even think about soaking or rinsing lenses in water!)

Being a frequent contact lens wearer myself, this is alarming news-- scary! I'll definitely be more wary from now on when cleaning my lenses and dry my hands carefully before removing them! I don't know if this amoeba is prevalent in Australia but water is one of the most effective carriers of bacteria and disease and travels everywhere so better to be safe than sorry!

Thank you so much for your warning post. I try to limit my time of wearing contact lenses. Usually, I just have them on Sport Days or to go to the dance club  . I'd prefer to wear my glasses so that I can give my eyes a little break once in a while. I'm so glad to participate on this forum. Feel like I'm always looked after by many good sisters.
