In the bottle of my PG I bought from Walmart, it says...DONT use on skin!!! when i first tried to make the serum, i put alittle on my neck...and it started itching and pinching me alot! and it became really red...not sure if its the l-ascorbic acid concentration was too high or the PG... |

Hi Ejay,
Did you purchase it from the pharmacist ... or was it sitting on a shelf somewhere?
I just wonder if there are different "grades" of PG ... and if there are ... I wonder what the other grades are used for? What else does it say on your bottle?
I have some ordered from the Shoppers Drug pharmacy ... although it seems to be taking an extremely long time for it to come in! Still ... they knew what I wanted it for ... so presumably, they will get in the right stuff.

Every Walmart I've asked, about the PG said they don't carry it... And I have a slew of them around here... |

Did you ask the Pharmacist what he thought???? The Walmart pharmacist here said they did not carry it, but suggested the compounding pharmacy across the street (who did order it for me). |

Hi Ejay,
I went to the Xenex Labs link ... and downloaded the MDSD sheet ... and while it clearly indicates that this is a "pharmaceutical aid [humectant, solvent] it does say that it's a skin irritant ... and yet I've used PG lots and have never had a reaction!
I'd call xenex Labs. They make the ascorbic acid that I use and I called them to make sure that it was l-ascorbic acid ... and they were very nice.
It beats me!

Hi Ejay,
Glad you emailed them. I'm anxious to see what they say ... because I just got word today that my PG has arrived at the West Brant Shoppers Drug ... and I'll bet anything that it comes from Xenex Labs as well!
Keep us posted!

Hi Ejay!
Oh ... isn't that helpful?
I got my PG today ... and sure enough ... it's from Xenex Labs ... but on my bottle it just says "May irritate skin or eyes" ... I haven't had time to compare it to what's left of the sample Carekate sent to me ... but I will over the weekend and let you know.
I'm not overly worried, however. I don't think I'll react to it like you did ...
I was thinking about this last night ... did you use it full strength? If so ... I wonder what your skin's reaction would be to it mixed, say 50/50 with distilled water?
