Hi, Everyone!
Now that it's winter, I need a new concealer. The one that used to be perfect is a little light for me and too pinky now. I also have dark lines around my mouth that are the result of seborrhea. I need a spot concealer because I REALLY don't want to wear foundation or powder all over. And it has to cover well. I'm fair skinned Af. Am. and have EXTREMELY golden kinda olive tones.
Does anyone else have this problem? Can you suggest any good creme concealers?
Here are the ones I've tried:
Stila- Perfecting Concealer - too pinky
Stila- Perfecting Foundation - too pinky
Stila - Cover up Stick - too pinky
Stila - Powder foundation, 70 watts - not enough coverage
Bobbi Brown - Golden or Honey. BB changed the formula and now her concealer looks different
Fashion Fair - too orangey
Mary Kay - full coverage foundation , Beige 402 - used to be PERFECT but is pinky now. The next shade is too dark
MAC - one shade was too light, the other too dark
Laura Mercier - too orangey also
Shiseido - Nothing dark enough or yellow enough |

I find Cle de Peau the best but if they do not have the right shade for you, you may want to try Laura Mercier and MAC. I really hope Cle de Peau has the right shade for you. It is a Japanese(sp?) skincare line with french name. |

Have you tried Jane Iredale concealers, they get good reviews. |

I love the physicians formula ones. I use the one with the green side and the concealer side. It hides the color of the spot so you dont need to use as much concealer. I also like Revlon Color stay. I have tried MAC and I know some people swear by it but it was too think for me. I felt the same about bobby brown. |

I vote for Cle De Peau. I use Beige. (I'm a medium with slight yellow tone) This is the best concealer I ever tried. It'a very matt finish and coverage is just perfect. Made in Japan (Shiseido). I also use their primer (fresh) which is must combo for my morning routine, gives me such a natural glow. |

Hi
I'm a big fan of Lauren Hutton makeup.
you may want to try her "try me trio" for olive skin.
Also, check out "three custom color" website.
in the concealer section they have the ultimate palette so what you do is you buy it and mix and match the color that works best then when you run out you can send them the mixture you made and they will create your very own custom made concealer |

The best concealer I've ever used is Dior Skinflash. It's a little pricey, but totally worth it! |

TooInvolved - I know you're after a cream-based one but have you considered using mineral makeup powder just in the places that you need to conceal? It works very well as long as you have well moisturised skin. |

Just bought the Mac select moisturecover and it is too pink although it was the closest color they had and it gets crepey quick. Since I bought it at Nordstroms she told me to try it and bring it back if I don't like it. This is one I think I will. |

Annie-
I just bought Mac at Nordstrom too! LOL! I decided to give Mac another try. I got the studiostick though in NC42. It's not bad. It looks good in the mirror but a little different outside. I'm still on my quest. But this is the best one I've tried in a while.
Is the select moisturecover the one in the litle pot? I tried that too and it didn't quite work, although it was in the same shade as what I bought. The Mac lady said different formulas may look different because of their different consistencies.
Do you set your concealer w/powder? That might help it to not get creepy. |

My mac concealer was in a tube with the sponge applicator. I did set it with powder and that made it worse. I took it back and they were wonderful, didn't even ask why. Back to using Revlon colorstay concealer which is actually pretty good. |

Thanks for the additional replies, everyone! Mabsy, sorry for the late response. I'm afraid mineral makeup won't cover as well. My lines are quite dark. I'm willing to try though. Someone once (carekate maybe?) said a friend has an ebay shop that sells mineral samples. I plan on trying her. I'll let you know how that goes.

Annie-
Afer a few days of using MAC, I see what you mean now about it getting cakey. It's even worse if I put cream on my face beforehand. So it's back to the drawing board. I saw Scott Barnes concealer on the Vicky's Secret web site. The color looked good. Maybe I'll try it.

Im surprised you didnt find a concealer in your color at MAC, they usually have tints for all skintones. NARS has really good concealers that give great coverage. You should check that brand out |

TooInvolved, I'm not helping here, just that when you do find your concealer let me know - we seem to have similar complexion and undertones. |

I haven't tried CDP or Dior but I have tried MAC in the tube, it didn't cover at all. Have you tried Mary Kay concealer in Beige? It is very yellowy, olive even, I really like it. Also, Mary Kay's Yellow concealer is great but I'm preferring the Beige one though these days. I'm fair, my MK foundation match (closest) is 200 and am surprised I like the Beige over Ivory. Ivory is more white and Beige is a yellowy neutral shade. Good luck in your search! |

I really like Prescriptive's Magic Wand-- it is a fat pencil concealer that comes w/a sharpener so you can apply it with precision to blemishes. It also blends easily and is very creamy. I use the warm hue for my golden/olive asian complexion. It is the bomb! |
