Hi there.
Its been a long time since I posted anything on the site. But,I NEED MAJOR HELP.So, I am turing to my friends and people that I know for advise. Recently I underwent a chemo treatment which left me with severe skin problems. I am in a mids of finding a correct product that will help me achieve the results that I am looking for. Since, my hormones are out of control I find myself breaking out, yet at the same time I am left with a very sensitive skin. Can anyone help me as to what producst I should try. I use to use the Yonka and Thalgo line. But, at the moment I am not so happy with the results that I am getting. Maybe I have too high of expectations. Please advise. |

Cetaphil is a safe cleanser....otherwise, I would go see a dermotologist. |

i'd try to keep it very simple and not use any products that are overly perfumed or anything like that. chemo can do a lot to your skin so you need to treat it gently.
cetaphil is probably a good idea and maybe a nice rich moisturiser if your skin has got quite dry.
i think it may be a good idea to either visit a dermatologist or else speak to your regular doctor about what you could use on your skin.
on a personal note, i hope you are feeling good and positive after your treatment

I would suggest you check out the IS Clinical website -www.isclinical.com. They developed an entire skin care protocol for women undergoing chemo and it has gotten incredible praise from everyone from dermatologists to oncologists to those who are using it. Definitely worth taking a look at. Their products are awesome.
Good luck with it. Hopefully you'll soon have the skin you want! |

I would suggest that you keep it very basic as well. As Skincare and Kiwigirl have suggested, Cetaphil is meant to be very gentle. Chemo can make your skin very sensitive and unable to tolerate products that it was responding to well in the past. If you think that your skin might do well with natural products then perhaps trying the Oil Cleansing Method (OCM) might be an idea - that may mean that you could skin moisturiser perhaps. It's all natural oils. |

i agree with mabsy - the key is to keep it very basic and just starting with OCM is a very good idea.
It is truly natural, unlike all the 'natural' and 'pure' products from manufacturers who add tons of preservatives and potentially harmful chemicals.
Another benefit of this and other home brews is that you can easily adjust the formula to suit your skin particular needs at particular times.
if you need more moisturizers, you can also add rosehip oil or emu oil to your routine.
good luck to you |

Thank u all so much. I thought I was going crazy at some point. I have discussed this situations with my oncologist but u know how doctors are sometimes. THey refer products that they promote. Although I tried some of their suggestions they have caused more damage then good. I have twins and I don't wish to be spending lots of time on my skin routine in the mornings.. my 2 yr old keep me very much active all day/ I must say that the entire treatment that I had underwent was an experience and I would never wish this even to my enemy. I am very happy that I have beat this thing. Yet, the doc recommend to undergo a bonemarrow transplant that I will be doing may 15, of this year. so, wish me luck. Next step to becoming healthy and myself all over again.

Hi!
I just joined the forum. I would like Kinga to
know that I will pray for her. Especially on May
15 ! My B-day is May 11, and it is a day where
I am more grateful than usual for my health and
all the blessings in my life.
I use Cetaphil cleanser in the morning, and
Thayers Witch Hazel as my toner. I have oily,
acne-prone skin and have been on Accutane 3
different times
Now at 45, and a wonderful dermatologist, my
skin is overall pretty good.
Evening primrose oil and omega 3 are supplements
I swear by ! |

Ladies,
Thank you so much for being so supportive of me. All of you are great people to keep in touch with. I am very excited that its finally over and that I will be able to close this book and open a new chapter in my life. My husband has been very supportive eventhough I know that there have been days were he would much rather end our marriage and forget that I even exisit. Throughout it all he has been the greatest not only as a husband but as a father to. I must say that I am very lucky to have such wonderful ppl who have surrounded me with lots of love as well as showed me how to be patient and realistic as well as not to GIVE up to easy cause things will get better.
Once again, thank you somuch for thinking of me. All of you have showed me that there are ppl who still care and support one another at moments like these.
Kinga. |

Totally agree with the ladies that you may want to keep your skin routine simple and natural.
I suggest Aquanil to be the cleanser that's very mild, yet clean. I would rate it over Cetaphil For moisturizing, you may want to try Aqueous cream, which is very very mild! My dermatologist recommends me to use it as cleanser and moisturizer during dry weather! It works amazingly!!
Wish you all the best! Good luck with the transplant! |

I find the Cetaphil and proheal to be very soothing and HEALING, so it may be something to try. Best of luck, faith and hope to you and prayers for you and you family. |

Boy you do sound like you have a lot on your plate. You're so cheerful. I'd focus on eating well. Good proteins and fish oil (discontinue 2 weeks before any surgery); antioxidants are something you may want to avoid if you're still taking cancer meds. When I was recovering from trauma 8 years ago when I started taking zinc and arginine and orthinine supplements the healing was noticably faster (I had open incisions for 3months due to infection).
For your face I would do as suggested above. Use a mild moisturizer but I would also use a low concentration vitamin C serum.
Good luck. Thanks for posting. |

Hello everyone,
Sorry for such a late response.. Been very busy these couple of weeks. May is just around the corner and there is Lots do do before I leave.
Once again, thank you for your kind words. Yes, I sometimes am a strong person but I have days were all I want to do is GIVE UP but when I look at my little ones, and realize that I will not be able to see them grow I get the strenth to FIGHT even harder to ensure that I can wake up and see yet another day
Again, thank u for your blessings, prayers and your advice.

Kinga,
You are a strong and brave woman. I know the transplant will be a success and I will be praying for you. Don't lose faith... all will be well... especially you!
Take care love,
Ali
Oh yeah, skin care, I also recommend fragrance-free Cetaphil and their Moisturizing Cream in the big tub. No smellies to make you sick. |
