I realize this is probably a common topic on this board, but what is the best product for oily skin? Topical and/or oral medication.

By far Decleor's Aromaessence Ylang Ylang Oil. You can follow up with the ylang ylang balm. Both are excellent. There have been many reviews of this product, just do a search on it.

Yes, Ylang Ylang oil gets raves here in terms of controling oil. How about Milk of Magnesia? Or does that just absorb it but not rebalance?

oral medication tends to be used for the treatment of acne rather than controlling excess oil, so probably best to use topical products. Using something with increased copper and zinc is good for controlling oil, and always avoid alcohol because it only makes the problem worse. I have heard sk2's facial clear solution is good as it controls oil fron the glands rather than drying the oil that has already been produced

I agree with the Zinc/copper, also fish Oil supplements are good.

Externally I have found that the right skincare regime makes all the difference, I love the Dr Hauschka Regime of cleanse, tone and day oil then for evening cleanse and tone only.

This way my skin has not gone nuts over producing oil at night, my skin is much better at regulating itself.

I use Witch Hazel as a toner, this is a really effective but gentle astringent for oily skin and is so inexpensive.

In place of a day time moisturiser Jojoba Oil is better for oily skin, my skin has gone from being very oily to normal and a little bit oily.

I got rid of all my liquid foundations as I just found my skin produced more and more oil whilst wearing them, I love to use a very light dusting of Mac Studio Fix and am planning on trying various other suggestions such as the milk of magnesia and white Kaolin Clay I have seen suggested.

MoM absorbs excess oil only, however I still consider it an important part of an oily skin care regimen! I have to go with the previous recommendations and say that Decleor Aromessence Ylang Ylang oil should be in every oily-skinned person's skincare arsenal....
