I need help! I am suddenly getting age spots all over my hands. I also have a new feckle on my cheek...not just a little one, we're talking 1/8" size, which seems to have appeared almost within days. What's wierd is that my Mom has the exact same one in the exact same place. So...is this hereditary? What can I do besides try to cover it with make up?
You guys seem to know everything....advice please? |

You need a really great s/s. This will help prevent new ones and help fade old ones.
Lasers are great for dark ones but not so good for light ones.
HQ with Retin-A will also help get rid of them. |

| Can anyone recommend a good sunscreen? I wear one in the summer and my daily moisturizer has SPF 15 but apparently that isn't enough. |

| I've posted several recommendations of Shiseido sunscreens, but I'll continue to as I find them far superior to any I've used (and I've used a lot of different ones). Light and silky, they come in different formulations and can be mixed with the Shiseido "veil" sunscreens depending on your needs. As for age spots, I'm five weeks into Obagi Nu-Derm, and the age spots on my hands and face have all but disappeared (I'm using Clear and Sunfader on my hands when I do my face and neck). It's definitely the 4% hydroquinone. |

you would need to use a serum or moisturiser to break down the spots that have shown up, and then protect your skin with a sunscreen so that new ones don't show up. I agree with Margot in terms of shiseido's sunscreen, i think that they are the best as well, but cliniques city block is pretty good too. And just apply your sunscreen onto your hands as well.

I also like and use Shisiedo s/s on my face.
If you type sunscreen into the search block, I'll bet you come up with 100's of postings. There is just too much to write about s/s in only one thread.
You really can't put moisturizer on and think you're protected. Companies that sell these products should be shot. It's really misleading advertising. |
