Okay, so someone left a "Woman's World" magazine out at work and I read it. You know the ones that always have some lady on the front holding up her pants from before she lost 100+ pounds, grinning with her thumb up? Anyway, I'm a carbaholic and love brown rice, so this intrigued me, since I've been really needing to eat better lately.
Here's the plan:
Breakfast: 1 starch, 1 fat free dairy, 1 fruit
Lunch and Dinner : 3 starches, 3 vegetables, 1 fruit (each meal)
"Jumpstart Day" (once a week)
Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner: 2 starches and 2 fruits
"Protein day"(once a week)
Breakfast: 2 starches and 1 fruit
Lunch: 3 starches, 3 vegetables and 1 fruit
Dinner: 3 starches, 3 vegetables, 3 proteins
Also you're supposed to drink 5-9 cups of water a day and only use sodium-free seasonings. I know it sounds bad to have a "protein day" but I hardly eat any now, and am eating mostly crap now anyway. Plus brown rice, whole wheat pasta, and beans (recommended on this plan) have protein. This would definitely up my healthy food consumption by 1000%. It sort of seems like a low fat food pyramid idea. Any thoughts? Or has anyone tried it? |

I'm not so sure about this diet.... I think I'd feel pretty puffy and bloated by the time I hit "protein day."
I remember in college that the fad was to focus on fat free carbs as a way of losing weight. Everyone was eating bagels like mad.... I wonder if this diet a revival? The rival to the Atkins protein craze? |

Yeah, the thing is that I keep planning on incorporating more fruits and veggies and cutting out the junk food, but I really need some 'plan' to follow or I don't stick to it. I was hoping this might help. I eat hardly any protein now, so the big change for me would really be switching from unhealthy to healthy. We go grocery shopping for the week tomorrow, so I'll try it for a week and see how it goes. If anyone is interested, I'll post how it's going after maybe a week or so. |
