I bought this book and read the whole thing this weekend! I learned things I already knew but so many other things I didn't know. She makes recomendations about all kinds of skin care products in all price ranges as well. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn about thier skin and skin type. |

I agree. I checked it out of the library and found it to be very useful. She not only walks you through a series of skin typing questionnaires, but she proposes a variety of treatments and solutions, including products that range from drugstore brands to cosmeceuticals. Definitely worth checking out... |

Does she have her own line of skin care? |

I bought it the first day it came out. Scanned it the first day and still haven't gone back to it. Took the test to determine what type skin you have and I'm still not sure.
Her advice on s/s is more than lacking. There were other things in the book that I thought the advice was less than good. Can't remember what they are...it's been several months.
She is coming out with a line of products and I kinda think that's the reason for the book.
My advice would not be to buy the book. Get it from the library if you want to read it. Check her facts before acting. |

I bought this a while back. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't alot of information in each section about what products were best for you (I expected alot more detail I guess). I think I was the Oily, Pigmented, Wrinkled, Resistent. I did buy one of her suggestions for a night cream with Retinol (Neutrogena Advanced Solutions Nightly Renewal Cream). That stuff was SOOO perfumed I couldn't use it. I should have taken it back, but I just gave it away. I thought I've read alot of people have had their skin clear up by using her suggestions, but I never really followed her suggestions to a T. I wanted to re-read through my section, but my sister has my book now and hasn't returned it yet.

I don't think she did when I read the book (not that I can remember). I do know she had a website where you could buy some of the other products she suggested for each skin type.
Overall ... this didn't live up to the hype for me. |

THanks for that.
Yeah, I guess it's highly likely that she's building her profile for a skin care range. I think Dr. Brandt and Dr. Gross (MD Skincare) did that prior to the release of their own skin care products. Good for 'em! So long as they sell something that has active levels of ingredients and do make physical changes to the skin! |

I have the book too. I am DRNW. Didn't know she was coming out with her own skin line, that will be interesting. I hope she doesn't have 100 different steps and products in her line, that's such a turn off to me. i.e. Dr. Denese, this serum, that serum, this filler, that filler, etc. I'm always interested at first when they have a core regime, then when it gets out of control, too many products, I feel they are getting too greedy & it loses credibility with me. I'm getting cranky in my old age... |

I read the book and liked her approach to skin care: down to the basics and keep it simple. I saw her on TV once and she does have really nice skin. |

I also bought the book. I think it had good basic information about skin care. She really didn't cover rosacea like I would have liked. And DSPW (that's me) Makeup wasn't addressed. I think I read somewhere she would like to do a book with natural products. |

That would be great. I found this book very helpful when I was just overwhelmed and looking for a place to start. The only frustration is the limited list of products. I kept wondering what she would think of this product or that product that I had heard about (usually on an EDS forum ). I realize that Dr. Baumann can only recommend what she has time to research, so I hope she has had time to review many more (natural and traditional) products and product lines. |
