What should I get to add to the advocado oil. I just read that it can't be put directly on your face by itself. How much of the other oil should be put in with it? I would like to use it around my eyes. Thanks

I also read something about avacado oil, that its good for the lips and supposedly moisturizes and makes them pink. Not sure how true that is. |

Avocado oil (like all carrier oils) CAN be put directly on the face. I sometimes use it around my eyes at night, and on my lips. I also made Diderot's avocado lip balm and LOVE it.
My lips do look pinker after putting on avocado oil--but it's not a permanent change. |

Avocado is one of my favorite carrier oils. Before using this as a skin care product, I always preferred lip balms with avocado in them. I've read that this oil is one of the most hydrating! I add it to my homemade cleansing oil formula:
25% castor oil
25% virgin olive oil
25% grapeseed oil
25% avocado oil
I also add a few drops to body lotions and cremes when I need extra hydration. Also works great directly on skin after a shower. |

Thanks so much. Just one more question... Where do you purchase yours from. There are so many to choose from I don't know what to get. I would probably have to order online because we have anyplace around here that carries those things. |

I got mine from www.meadowsaroma.com. As I recall it was a bit pricey but super high quality and a little goes a long way for my purposes. Supposedly the greener the oil is the more fruit that's in it and the better it is. My is a very yuckky green color. So, I only use it for small applications, can't use it in my lip balms etc as it taints the lot green. |

I just went to that website and it says the oil is best use at a blend of 5-50%. What does that mean? |

Meaning not to use it at 100% strength. But - don't know why. I have and have never had a problem. |

avocado oil is a good oil bec. it's very emollient as well as thicker, it can be cut with jojoba, emu, grapeseed, rosehip seed, or olive oil, depending on how oily your skin is naturally. |

I had trouble finding this thread because it's named advocado when it should be Avocado. |
