I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere! I bought some of the Lip Enhancer at Walgreens, the stuff that says its "Supurb value alternative to LipFusion". It doesn't say anywhere on the box if its the kind of treatment that you use over time to see results or if its just an every time you use it sort of thing. I understand that with City Lips you see better results after 30 days? So is this LipFusion stuff supposed to be used daily to see results, or only when I'm going out and want to see immediate results? Please can someone explain to me? Thanks!

This is a great question! I have the same stuff, and I do see an instant plump (even more so after I exfoliate first)...but not 100% sure about long-term effects. If it is supposed to be a copycat of LipFusion (and I think it's a really good one), then I hope it helps plump lips in the long run like the LF!

Since Carekate is such a whiz with ingredient knowledge (what they can/can't do) AND has used LF and this Lip Enhancer, perhaps she can shed some light on this!

See I didn't even know LipFusion had long term effects! I looked at sephora.com for info, lipfusion.com and ebay. Seriously, where on the lipfusion website does it say it gives cummulative results? I looked everywhere Brick wall I see it says "Results can last for up to 48 hours"... but at some point of reading this forum I got the idea that lipfusion was a cummulative thing... If it is, I'm assuming this "lip enhancer" would be as well since it compares itself to it. Hopefully someone can demystify this for me!

I remember reading in their two-page ad in InStyle magazine when the product first came out, that LipFusion claimed to have both an immediate plumping effect and that the results would become cumulative the longer you used to product. Now, however, I don’t see that claim anywhere anymore, either. Perhaps the FDA, or whomever regulates the cosmoceutical industry, forced them to remove that claim from their advertising because they weren’t able to prove it...? Of course, that is merely speculation on my part.

What isn’t speculation on my part is the opinion that none of the lip plumpers are truly cumulative or capable of producing long-term or permanent results. I have tried nearly every topical plumper on the market and none of them convinced me that their results got better over time. I realize that there are others on this forum that have experienced the opposite, but I cannot verify or vouch for those claims because it hasn’t happened to me. I have investigate the various active ingredients in these topical plumpers and have not found any of them to be capable of producing those types of results. But on the other hand, nobody can find offer any scientific results supporting the theory that taking hyaluronic acid/collagen nutritional supplements orally could produce lip plumping and yet there are dozens of members here who can attest to the fact that it DOES work. It may just all boil down the fact, illustrated every day on this forum, that what works for one person isn’t necessarily going to produce the same results for everybody! Perhaps I am just “immune” to the active ingredient in CityLips and my body just doesn’t react to it...?

I do want to say that I will be conducting further experiments of my own (and may request some ‘guinea pigs’ to help me with them) regarding the active ingredient known as MaxiLip, which is used in nearly all topical lip plumpers today. I was able to purchase a jar of 100% pure, undiluted MaxiLip from the Personal Formulator and plan to incorporate it into one of my homemade lip balm recipes so I am hoping that if I add double the amount of MaxiLip that most topical lip plumpers contain, that it will yield some spectacular results....

The bottom line is that I did not personally experience any cumulative plumping results from using LipFusion back when I was applying it every day, twice daily, for nearly two months straight.

HTH,
Carrie

Carekate, I knew I could count on you for info! Smile I had read the same thing about LF offering cumulative results, which was what prompted me to buy it in the first place. Odd that you haven't seen that claim in their ads in awhile...so perhaps your FDA theory is right! At any rate, the LF that I do have is the XL to be used at night...and it is a really nice product that does give me some plumping effect (though it's too $$$). However, if I'm honest, I can't really say that I've seen the striking long term/permanent results that some of our EDS-ers have with either LF or some other treatment.

But, all that said, between the HA pills and whatever "topical du jour" I use, I am generally pretty happy with how my lips look (certainly MUCH happier than I was before I found EDS and started lemming on all the products/advice!). Of course, that doesn't stop me from still searching for the ultimate plumper that will "do it all". So...Carekate if you need guinea pigs for your MaxiLip project, please sign me up!!

One thing that totally bothers me about lipfusion and some other lip plumpers like it is that they actually contain FISH! (Doesn't it sound prettier when they called it "marine collagen spheres"?) Vegetarians want plump lips too! I know that a lot of people eat fish, and so they probably don't mind having fish on their lips either, and that's ok, but I still wish there were more animal-free lip plumpers out there... (Thank goodness for lip venom and the juice beauty plumper, right?)

Like Carrie, I'm not convinced that any of these lip plumpers have a cummulative effect, but I haven't been brave enough to prove one way or the other by not using them anymore. I'm very happy with the results I'm getting now with HA/Collagen pills and LF regular and XL (although at $70Cdn I'm not buying the XL again)! Carrie, as an avid devotee of anything to do with lip plumping - count me in on your Maxi Lip experiment...pwetty pweeese Smile

I'm really bad when it comes to lip plumpers. About two years ago I had injections, went in TWICE to get em. First time decided it wasn't enough, went a week later and had the same amount put in. So my lips were big. I loved em. I'm constantly trying to get that same effect without the injections. *Sigh* I realize we're probably not there yet, but I will do what needs to be done... and volunteer to be a tester for any of Carekate's experiments, if she will have me as a tester that is.
