Dr Hauschka Cleansing Cream is good for large pores, also I swear by using a toner. |

Jurlique face cream wash worked for me. It's similar to Dr H, but doesn't smell of beer and is a courser grain. |

Hi Peace of Mind,
You'll never "get rid" of them. However, if you keep them clear of "gunk" ... they will immediately become less noticeable ... and in time, you may be able to shrink them somewhat. However, they will probably never shrink down to a "poreless" look.
You can use makeup primers which will help hide them ... and some makeup is better than others for obscuring them ...
Just make sure you keep them very very clean/clear ...

Silly, you can't 'get rid of your pores' without getting rid of your skin!
Since we can't give our folks a good verbal tongue lashing for passing on the genetic baggage we all look at daily in the mirror, the best we can do is accept who we are. My name is Deanne and I have large pores <lighting a candle>.
FYI: For many years, I have held a personal grudge against Clinique and that stupid white board they use to discover what skin you have. I have always hated the counter women who stare intently at my face and then quickly comment about 'large pores'. I used to avoid the counter women for that reason since it made me feel like the Hubble Telescope was looking at me and all women in ear shot knew of my large pore problem. Well any who, I also searched for the 'cure' for large pores when a sweet lady from the BB line told me I didn't have a choice. My pores were genetic. Talk about a blinding flash of the obvious!!
The more I thought about it, the more I realized this was really my own hang up. Who cares if I have large pores? Since then I have adopted the BB thought of looking the very best I CAN look-not compared to anyone else...just the best I CAN LOOK. I don't try to look like any Hollywood actor anymore and I find I am now more at peace with myself. The parts I never really cared for about myself I now realize make me unique....yes, pores and all.
I always hated my acne scars and did go in for a few TCA peels to help minimize them. The unexpected result was it detoxed my skin. I loved it. My scars did not dissapear, but yes some of my scars were less noticable; however, I realized I was the only one who noticed it -most people commented on how healthy my skin looked! And I still had huge pores on my nose!!!?
Since I have found this forum I use less makeup and I am happier with my skin than I have been in years. After I had my child I finally like what I see in the mirror. I am less 'perfect' than I was ten years ago, but more content than ever before. I have this forum to thank for putting the 'fun' back in skin care. I don't go to make-up counters that try to guilt me into buying their product and I just walk away if I don't like the women working there. No one has the power to make you feel bad about yourself unless you let them <evil evil white clinque board...>.
My advice is like Mary's....keep your skin gunk free...I like OCM, DR.HCC, Toner and Jojoba oil. See what works best for you.
Besides, I think having large pores is really a good thing as my skin is probably more oily and therefor will not show the signs of age as fast as my tiny pored brethern. |

I have huge pores and beta hydroxy acid (salylic acid) products have really helped clean them out, making their appearance less large. The pH of these products need to be between 3-4 to effectively exfoliate. I use Paula's Choice 2% liquid and lotion. She also makes a gel a lot of people like. There is a Juice Beauty review in the reviews section, it's a bha serum I believe that is getting a lot of good feedback. I love the idea of 'juice' beauty, it just sounds yummy! Not sure of the pH though so I'll stick with what's working, at least until I need to repurchase. |

i find oils help my pores. I use a microdermabrasion scrub Epidermx and its strange that everytime i use it the pores on my forehead look more pronounced, but then when i apply Silkia camellia oil they immediately disappear before my eyes. Overall my pores are much smaller than they were before. |

Agree with aspirin masks...and almost daily in the shower I alternate between aha and enzyme masks left on for about 3 minutes. I like Zia brand for this. Just bought a Juicy Green Apple to throw into the mix. If you get the urge to squeeze/extract...do an aspirin mask instead. If your pores suddenly look larger or more congested don't panic...your monthly cycle may substantially increase your sebum / pore size.
Lolli~ Do you self test the PH of your products? Or contact the company?
deanne123~ Agree. This "place" is fun....and, no one does notice our imperfections (though pores on our noses and "wrinkles" when we smile are hardly imperfections); we're all staring in our own movie called "ME", and I finally realized that the person next to me is staring in their own "ME" movie, in which I have a supporting role with very little screen time. How much time do you spend thinking about someone else’s skin?... exactly.
What does "BB" stand for?

I have contacted companies about the pH of their products.
PC states the pH on the website, I admit to not testing her's but have heard from others (MUA skincare board) that they are accurate.
I do test others I have on hand, including my own vit c serum. Liquids are easy to test if you have little pH test strips, my husband works in a lab and he brought me home some. I dip the strip in or squirt some liquid/serum on, wait for a few minutes and compare the strip to the little guide on the container. |

I started using Lavitton for oily-conbination skin a few weeks ago. I love this stuff!!!
I don't even have to blot through the day. I never would of dreamed that oil would regulate oil. My skin is clearer and feels so smooth and my pores look so much smaller.

Bravo Deanne123 for your post. Reading messages like yours make me so glad I found this forum.
peace of mind - the aspirin mask is a good suggestion. A cleanser w/ glycolic acid and/or a toner with salicylic acid, like PC's 2% would probably help too. Just don't start everything at the same time as combined, they might dry you out too much. |

CyndiK- ooooo, I like the movie analogy....very cool. Oh, BB stands for Bobbi Brown. It was during my childs second year I started caring how I looked again....or rather, started noticing I stopped caring.
I came across BB plugging her latest book on TV about beauty at different ages. It was a 'right time, right person' sort of moment. I had been trying to get used to dressing up a bit again, but things weren't clicking for me and I didn't know why. My body was heavier and its shape had changed and I had no idea really on how to dress it anymore that didn't include sweats and T-shirts and the make-up that looked good in my early twenties just made me look older than I was now. I hadn't changed my make up or routine and didn't know where to start. I went to Barnes and Noble and bought the BB Beauty book (the book she was plugging wasn't in, but I'm glad as the book I bought was the best for me). It was a turning point for me. Make up must change as we age. I like BB's books as it does go thru tips on make up for teens, twenty, thirty, over 40, and 60+. She also had info for differnt skin and background. White, Black, Asian, Latino, Mixed, etc. I bought the book on Teen make-up for my kid sister since my mother (whom I adore) still believes in blue frosted eye shadow and 80's (cringe) blush stripes <shudder>. For teens, BB believes SHEER SHEER SHEER. Which I couldn't agree more with. I had to do something. I was home and we took a family photo and I couldn't stop staring at my Mom and sister....I thought Robert Palmer was making a new video.
Stardust- Thank you.
Peace of mind--I did forget the weekly exfoliate. I like PSF pumpkin or aspirin mask.
FYI: I'm currently using the Lauren Hutton Face disk with the BB tinted balm.
