Hi

I've just replied to a post from Phoebesmeow over in EDS Lounge. She was asking if anyone has tried Hoodia (the 'natural' apetite suppressant) as she'd heard bad things about it.

I replied saying it made me hallucinate, spaced out, like I was drunk, couldn't concentrate etc and when I stopped taking it I was fine. I thought nothing of it then went on holiday and forgot all about it, this was last month.

Anyway I did a search for Hoodia here and there's only 2 posts and lianne said..

If you decide to take pills be sure that it doesn't contain hoodia. Remember all the bad news about ephedra? Same goes for hoodia...some people think it might even be worse than ephedra

Now I'm worried. Does anyone know what was wrong Ephedra and what's the negative stuff about Hoodia? I'm wondering if I've done myself some long term damage by taking it???

Anyone heard anything?

Thanks

ephedra was the cause of some atheletes having strokes and dying...I remember there was one high school football player in the US that they said the cause of his death was ephedra use.

If you only took it for a short time and didn't take large amounts I wouldn't worry about it.

I have read a lot about hoodia products, and what I have learned so far that most of the products selling it are fake.
Read the following: newstarget dot com/hoodia/html.
Hope it helps.

The thing with ephedra is when taken in the recommended dosage it's fine, those kids were overdosing on it. Ephedra is a stimulant drug so it causes a rise in heart rate. People take pure ephedra for medical reasons usually with breathing.

With any drug taken people always overdo it and then it's labeled (evil).

I'm not too familiar with the facts on Hoodia though.

Sounds like fun to me =)

US Weekly did an "article" on extreme diets. It went on about the dangers of hoodia, then it listed a website where you can buy products with it and how much they cost. How thoughtful of them.....

Ususally there shouldn't be any side effects from hoodia. The problem with this market is that there are a lot of companies out there that sell counterfeit hoodia with a lot of fillers. So dependent upon which brand you took it could be that you took fake hoodia. Hoodia is every rare and an expensive plant.
