I am getting married in Hawaii at the end of July. HOT weather I imagine, don't know have never been. Any suggestions on what type of makeup to use for the big day. Primer? Non melting makeup?

I got married in summer. I found airbrush make-up have really good staying power. I did not do any touch ups for the whole day and it still looked good. |

Are you going to be doing your own make-up, or having it done?
If you're having it done, I would ask the make-up artist what she recommends.
If you're doing it yourself, why don't you go to a big department store and talk to the different sales associates. You might want to go on different days for each counter. Obviously they'll recommend their products, but sometimes I've gotten good suggestions and even suggestions about other brands sometimes!!!
If they give you a mini makeover, or a sample of certain products, maybe you could find a way to test the staying power. Does your gym have a sauna? Sit in there w/ full makeup for a few minutes, or work out a little to start sweating. |

Those are good ideas, thank you. Yeah, I am probably going to do my makeup myself. Very small wedding family only..about 6 people all together very casual, but would like to look my best. I've heard its rather humid. Fun and scary to check out all those counters. I'm easily sold, so could end up with way too much, but have been thinking about a new foundation anyway. Using Laura Mercier, it's nice, but looking for maybe a little more glowy. |

Are you doing professional photos on the wedding day?
We had a small wedding in Australia (about 20 family and friends and it was a Monday). Photos at the church were just taken by "selected" family members and then for our official portraits, we went into a professional studio the following day where they did make-up and hair.
Anyway, what I was getting around to... why not invest in some good facial routines/treatments over the next couple of months to bring your skin to a nice healthy glow without foundation for hte actual wedding day.. you could then go with a nice light tint and some bronzing powder, eye and lip make-up etc. That would help fight the hot weather, keep a nice "hawaii" feel to your face, etc.
One other big tip.. go for a hairstyle that pulls your hair fully off your face and neck.. that will help keep you cool. |

Yes, we are taking professional photos, they will probably all be outside since we are doing this on the beach. I have started to try to make my skin healthier looking and I don't really wear that much makeup, but MOM thinks I look better when I do! For photo's I'm sure I do. I like the bronzer idea, do you have any good ones to recommend. I recently bought Benefit's Dallas, not crazy about it or not exactly good at putting it on. Guess I kind of need a goof proof bronzer. |

at "goof proof".. you better buy it now and practice every day.. actually, that is not such a silly suggestion. I would go to a counter (maybe bobbi brown) as soon as possible and tell them the situation.. hawaiian wedding, casual atmosphere, photos outdoors and ask them to do your face in something light and natural (and easy), then you could go outside and see for yourself and buy whichever products and colors you liked best.
The only hint there is be VERY Specific with the SA on the "weight" and ease of the makeup you want otherwise they tend to go the whole hog. Being outdoors you really do want to keep it light and natural, just to enhance, and this will also help reflect your natural personality (of not wering a lot of make-up). You wont be happy with photos of you in full war paint if that is not what you do every day. |

Thanks Tiger, I have never tried Bobbi Brown and would love to see what they have in mind. I'll let you know how it goes. |
