The first time I used MD Forte Rejuvenating Eye Cream was about about 2 years or more ago at the suggestion of my derm since the Tazorac she had prescribed for me was simply too strong for my eye area. I used just a small dab under each eye every night, waited about 30 minutes then used a bland moisturizing eye cream over that. After about 3 weeks I could definitely tell the fine lines under my were less noticeable and I was happy. Then I noticed something strange. I began to notice dark circles under my eyes which I had never had a problem with in the past. I chalked it up to a bad diet and lack of sleep and continued using MD Forte.
When I ran out of the eye cream, I asked my derm if I could use a milder rx retinoid in that area so I started using a low percentage of Renova. Within a couple of weeks I realized the dark circles were gone again, but the fine lines continued to be diminished just as they had with MD Forte.
The time came when I ran out of the sample tubes of Renova so I decided to start up on MD Forte eye cream again until I could get back to the derm since the MDF seemed to do just as well as Renova with the fine lines. Unfortunately, those darn circles showed up within a couple of weeks use! At this time I was really suspecting the glycolic content of MD Forte was thinning enough to show darkness so I again stopped using it and went back to Renova.
A couple of weeks or so again, I once again started using a small dab of MD Forte eye cream at night under my eyes and after 30 minutes or so, topping it off with my beloved Perricone Eye Area Therapy Cream which I had already been using for a year or more over Renova. Eyes were looking better than ever so I thought this was MY perfect combination until the dreaded dark circles found their way back!
Has anyone else experienced anything like this with glycolics around the eye area? I could swear the combination of MD Forte and Perricone is my lucky ticket and would be willing to use a heavier concealer if I wasn't afraid the the glycolic would damage the area in the long run. |

Gee Cheri this is an interesting observation. I've had dark circles (actually not circles but arcs at the inner corners of my eyes) of varying degrees of darkness since I was a child. Like you, I figured the variations were related to diet, sleep, allergies, etc.
I'm going to pay closer attention to see if I notice an AHA:dark circle connection. |
