This may seem silly--but I'm very new to actually taking care of my skin.

When I look closely at my nose, I have what I think are blackheads. They're not really black, but darker colored pores.I'm not sure if it's just considered clogged pres, or blackheads. How do I know the difference?

Again, sorry if this is a silly question!

From what I understand a clogged pore is a "closed comedome". Usually it presents itself as milia or a whitehead. An "open comedome" is a blackhead. The pore is exposed to air, pollution, dirt etc and the oil (sebum) oxidizes and turns black. Both can be equally hard to extract. Usually BHA's work well on removing blackheads and AHA's work well for whiteheads. Both exfoliate the skin but the BHA can actually penetrate down into the pore due to it's molecular size. A good quality AHA/BHA can help remove these issues. Also an enzyme mask of some sort can help as well for those with sensitive skin. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply!!

I just ordered the NuDerm system, so I'm hoping with all the peeling I'll experience as well as the Retinol I have, that it will help.
I think they are blackheads!

I've been one of the horrible people who used to go to bed without washing my face Sad

Trying to get better--so hopfully this will help jump start me on a good skin care regime!

Thanks again!

Neutrogena has a toner that has AHA and BHA which helps blackheads. You could also use aspirin mask which acts like BHA.
