This question was brought up in a product review by someone else but I though I would post it seperatly to get more opinions.

The active ingredient in Prevage is idebenone and ubiquinone is coenxyme Q10. I know these two ingredients are NOT the same but are they related? They sound like they might be related and they are both antioxidants. But here is what really got me thinking about the two. I was looking up PrevageMD and the actual name for idebenone is Hydroxydecyl Ubiquinone (I got this info from the PrevageMD website).

I hope someone has an idea about this.

Ubiquinone is the organic (more effective) form of coenzyme Q10. Idebenone is the synthetic version. The first one is more effective but much more expensive to mftr. There are a few patented strains of yeast in Japan that produce it so it is expensive. Allergan synthesized coenzyme Q10 to avoid the expense, cooked up some bogus clinicals and now claims Coq10 to be the best thing since sliced bread for skin. And only 100 bucks a pop!!!! Don't fall for it.

Yay - I was sure the two were related, but couldn't remember for the life of me where I'd read it Laughing .

Wow! From everything you read about idebenone it sounds like it is the BEST and that ubiquinone is inferior. If was wondering if this was all hype or if there was any science to it. It seems to me that Allergan is very good at marketing.

Thanks for the info betterat40!!
