I thought this would have been a pretty good company, but I am having some trouble with them.
I ordered something for DH on April 21st and it said shipping was 4-7 days (signed for), which is usual for shipments from UK to Japan.
I had mailed them immediately after ordering to ask about VAT (usually international have VAT deducted but their site did not say anything) and I never got any reply.
So, I figured VAT was not a huge amount on my order and I waited for the goodies to arrive...BUT after 18 days I still have not received anything yet.
I mailed them AGAIN yesterday to ask about my order (and also the VAT since I was resending) but STILL no response. Has anyone else here every purchased their chocolate and had trouble? I dont want to have to waste an international phone call to try and deal with this, but I am getting really riled that they are not responding to me. |

Yes, I have ordered from them once - and with no problems at all. So I don't have any experience of having to contact them regarding problems, I'm afraid.
They're based in London and have a tiny little shop just off Sloane Square.
Very bad of them not to get back to you to answer your query, but I wonder whether the site being down for maintenance may mean that they're experiencing problems with their e-mail too? (Probably not, though.)
Anyway, I've found an old brochure I have for them from last year. Their contact details are:
L'Artisan du Chocolat
89 Lower Sloane Street
London
SW1W 8DA
Telephone: 020 7824 8365
(which I believe translates as 00 44 20 7824 8365 from outside the UK)
I hope you do manage to get things sorted out, as their chocolate is absolutely gorgeous, not to mention how annoyed you must be about this.
If it's any help at all, you could always PM me with some details and I could ring them for you to see if they've received your messages. (I'm in the UK.)
BTW, if you want a different chocolate recommendation, I think the very best in the world is La Maison du Chocolat. Their delivery charges can be steep, but here's their website address, if you're interested in finding out more:www.lamaisonduchocolat.com
I've both ordered for others and received myself chocolate from them, and the service was great. Although, again, I've never had to contact them about any problems. |

sarahb - These are 2 different companies. The "l" in the e-mail address seems to be the only difference! |

This website has some really yummy chocolates: http://www.chocolatetradingco.com/browsemanufacturer.asp?ID=3.
I can't vouch for their international shipping (which is pricey) as I've only ever had them shipped within the UK, but you need to try the Booja Booja midnight espresso truffles. Everyone should |

I can't abide coffee, but I do love the Booja Booja Flambéed Banana Truffles - they are amazing!
If you like Booja Booja, then you're almost certain to love Montezuma's - very similar, but with even more choice of flavours: http://montezumas.co.uk
And if you really love chocolate, then you should try some of this (they did have some at Fortnum & Mason's last year, which is where I tasted it): http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/from_our_own_correspondent/3920167.stm
I...erm...quite like chocolate. |

majorb, I might just take you up on that offer! The maintenance only started from yesterday and the email address they use is actually hotmail.
I will send you a PM with the information....
Thank you!!
PS. We actually have a branch of La Maison du Chocolate in Tokyo, which is why I went for the Artisan ones (I wanted something I could not get here) |
