I have been reading the DIY thread, am up to page 9, and am curious if it would be OK to use roasted salted almonds or if they should be all natural.
I ask as I always have almonds in the house and if a bit of salt is not going to hurt the DHCC I would rather use what I have on hand rather than picking up something else.
Thanks a bunch!
Ohhhh.... and can I use olive oil and a wax to make a lip balm rather than use the avacado oil in the lip balm DIY?
I made a brown sugar scrub that is absolutely divine....
Thank you again! |

I would be careful about putting anything with salt on my face, its draws water out of your skin by way of osmosis, besides it do you think it might sting? What if you washed the salt off??? An extra step, but will save you buying more? |

Oh yeah, I would not have a problem with washing it off.... They are not overly salted like peanuts... but salted just the same.
You make a good point about it drawing moisture from the face... that is not good... I guess I was thinking along the lines of if salt scrub is good for the body a bit of salt may be OK for the face. |

Yeah, I see your point, but there's salt as in Sodium Chloride which we put on our food and would be on your nuts, and then there's salt as in a salty scrub with salt like grains which might not necessarily be one and the same (most often isn't, in my experience). |

I make a TON of Almond cleansing cream. I believe using raw almonds would be the only way to ensure getting the true benefit of the nut. |

I made my first batch of DHCC using fresh organic almonds the other night and spent a long time mashing it to the right consistency. Using roasted / cooked almonds just don't feel right to me, but I'm no expert. btw, does anybody know if it needs to be kept in the fridge or not? I read Carekate's post and she said that there's no need to refrigerate it, but I'm not too sure. |

You can basically substitute any type of oil, or combine several different oils, to make a basic lip balm. It's just a matter of figuring out which oil/s are going to have the best benefit or provide the best result. |
