Do you perhaps have some sun damage on your face? if skin gets a good burn, sometimes it will stay darker for a long while afterwards (years). In this case, you should prevent further damage by using something with an spf and look into products that lighten skin. I believe the Aveeno product you mentioned isn't so much of skin lightener. I used it a couple years ago, it just has some little sparklies in it that supposedly diffuse light thus making you "radiant". |

Are you using a sunscreen on your face? If it's darker than your hands it's probably due to being slightly tanned. Without a sunscreen you can get darker even doing normal daily activities like walking from the house to the car, or through the car windows while in the car.
There's nothing in the Aveeno that will actually lighten the skin. It'll just give a slight glow. |

No I dont use sunscreen on my face. So lets say I stay away from the sun for a few years, will my face complexion become like the back of my hand?
Also wanted to mention, my hand is explosd to sun a lot more than my face. |

How can you stay away from the sun for few years? And how possible your hands exposed to sun a lot more than your face? Are you wearing some kind of mask? UV penetrates lots of materials!! You need a sun screen. Period. |

I totally agree. Sunscreen is one of the most important (if not the most important) item
for your skin. |

Apply the sunscreen a good 15-30 minutes before you leave the house (so your skin can absorb it). |

Sunscreens should be applied at least 20 minutes before sun exposure.
I've tried several of the Anthelios sunscreens. I prefer the L spf 60 to the S spf 30 because it feels less greasy and has higher protection so even if I apply less, I'll be getting more protection. They both leave a whitish film but that disappears in about 15 min. Some people complain of a sticky feel.
For daily use, I use a mineral makeup but when I'm going to be outside a lot, I use the Anthelios spray spf 30. It feels less greasy and will dry matte. |

Try the homemade recipe for Dr H Cleansing Cream, the ground almonds in the mixture help towards lightening skin.
I have been using this all over the winter and my skin went down a shade. |

IMHO, daily use of a good stable sunscreen, and a retinoid product at night are the first steps to helping your skin repair itself.
I'm sure you'll get plenty of other good suggestions from others on this forum. |
