hello,
has anyone had good experiences with MUA's swap? In theory, it is a great idea, but so far it has just proved timely and annoying. I mean, someone wants to trade my brand new bumble+bumble products for fragrance samples, or my never-used Lorac Luminizer for a half-used mascara tube?
I don't get it!
anyways, i think I'm going to take my stuff off of there and donate it to charity...

| I have had good experience on MUA swap. I mainly just purchase/sell products. I have gotten a bunch of stuff that I couldn't use and recouped most of my money. |

I have been swapping on MUA since last fall. I think it’s a great way to find homes for products that I bought and tried, but which didn’t work out for me but which I don’t want to bother with returning to the store to get a refund.
I only swap for items that interest me. If the person sends me a swap request and I don’t find anything on their list that I want, I decline to swap. I also make sure that I swap for an item that is the same, or nearly the same, value as my item before I’ll agree to the trade.
Also, just like I would do when thinking of bidding/purchasing an item on Ebay, I check the MUA swappers feedback (i.e.: swap token comments) before I’ll agree to proceed with a trade.
Believe it or not, it was via MUA swaps that I actually found a couple of my holy grail and/or current fave products (i.e.: Smashbox tinted lip treatment, Prada Tinted Lip Balm, Burt’s Bees Orange Essence Facial Cleanser – will be submitting my product review for this item shortly – and Jurlique Foaming Facial Cleanser! For that reason alone, I’d be willing to continue swapping stuff.
Maybe I’ve just been extremely fortunate, but I have around 50 MUA swaps under my belt and haven’t had a single negative experience yet – knock on wood! |

Avalange: Perhaps you aren't giving it enough of a chance. It sounds like the people who have been requesting these uneven swaps with you are either newbies (and don't understand the rules/swap etiquette) or fools that you should ignore. I have had well over 100 swaps on MUA and nearly all of them have gone well with both parties ending up happy. I've even received incredibly generous "extras" from swappers (e.g. a whole can of Dermalogica's Microfoliant) and lots of sweet notes, etc. Finding a swap package at home tends to brighten up my day a bit.
One of the best ways to guarantee an even swap is to do a wishlist search for people who have Lorac luminizer on their wishlists. Then you check out what they have up for swap and contact them with a proposed swap. In my experience, most politely-worded, reasonable, value-matched swaps will be accepted. HTH! |

Wow, thank you for not allowing me to lose hope! I was going to pull all of my items off today, but now I suppose I'll keep them up. The other thing is that so far I've been contacted by a few people who wanted only my new, sought-after items, and they had only samples or half-used drugstore items, or clothes, and I wasn't into their lists but I felt obligated to try to find something... I guess I shouldn't feel that way, and only swap when there is an even and heartfelt exchange on either side!
I appreciate all of your positive views and your reinforcement of this still strange, new concept to me.

Avalange, I'm so glad you posted about this! I've been intrigued with the whole swapping thing on MUA, but have been a little intimidated because I didn't understand how it worked. Sounds like it's a worthwhile effort if you just take the time to figure out how to navigate the system. Looks like I have some homework to do!

Hi girls... (especially MUA swapper)
I have a question. I just received an item today froma swapper that has less token than me (thats why she sent first), and the item wel... lets just say the contant somehow soaks through the jar. It was sticky everywhere when I opened the box. And there is only 60% of content left in the jar (which as not we agreed upon). She prob just didnt close the jar tight enough or something.
I know it is not her fault, but who is responsible in this situation?
Please shine a little light in this matter.
I do not want to sound b----y, butI am not getting something that we agreed upon

I like the idea of swapping and my first few experiences were good (thanks carekate for my very first swap) . I did however get swaplifted at the begining of this month so I'm frustrated with it. I can't ask others to send first b/c I don't have many tokens)
My MUA name is lianne9 if anyone wants to swap with someone who's honest. I don't have many items on my list and not many tokens..

Hi Lianne, the matter is solved. I was kinda nervous before because I am a new swapper (altho the other swapper is newer than me). ANyways, we worked things out. She is such a nice person. |
