I read somewhere on this forum that the Essential Balm could be used on babies with cracks or eczema. As I'd been using the balm for a few days and found it really soothing and moisturising, I decided to try it on my baby out of desperation one morning when he had a particularly bad case of eczema and had scratched his arm raw. I applied the balm twice more throughout the day and couldn't believe my eyes when I checked his arm the next morning. The raw area had dried up and appeared to be healing!  This is incredible as we'd tried several prescribed creams/ointments with little effect. My little boy is happy once again and his skin has now healed completely. I'll continue using the balm during flare-ups as I've seen it work, and boy, does he smell deeeeeeeeeelicious when I rub it on his skin!!!  |

Dear KazK,
I'm happy for you and your baby boy. Just a little note: my aunt also uses Decleor Harmonie Soothing Cream for her baby whenever she starts a milk rash on her cheeks, too. |

Thanks, babyfish! I was starting to get so desperate. The poor kid was really uncomfortable.
Great stuff, another item for my "to try" list!! :P This is the first time I've used Decleor and I really like the range.

I want to jump in here because my first baby suffered terribly from recurring eczema. I didn't want him to be on those steroid prescription creams forever, so I went looking for the cause. It turned out he was allergic to dairy products. I switched to soy formula and the eczema disappeared.
Food allergies--something to think about.

We want to avoid relying on the steriod ointments as a long-term solution as well. We'd just enquired about non-invasive allergy testing on the weekend and will be contacting the naturopath to organise a test for him once our boy hits 6 months next week (that went by SO quickly!).
Really appreciate your suggestions. Rather distressing for first time parents
