Going to get a facial tomorrow at noon. She asked me on the phone what I used on my face and I was thinking, you got ten minutes. Anyway, I'm going to bring all that stuff out of my medicine closet(she wants me to bring the stuff in) but am afraid she'll talk me into buying the stuff there when I haven't been using my stuff for very long and would like to give them a chance to work, and believe me, its easy to get me to buy something, all I have to do is see someone make a positive review and I think I need it. I'm such a sucker. Do any of you buy things from the spa? |

Oh my gosh, I'm just like you. Seriously, I can be sold pretty much anything. I went for a facial a few weeks back with the intention that I would buy a few products that she suggested (they used all Dermalogica). I knew I wanted to try some of their things, but I was going to stop there. Well, after my facial I bought a few things, then I went back a few days later and bought some more, then about a week later a few more ... I probably ended up buying a total of 10 products in total!! I even ended up buying more than what she suggested for me to start with. My problem is I get impulsive and obsessive and I feel I need to have EVERYTHING right away. I just can't wait. And my VISA suffers for it.
But I think that if you go and just ask for her to write down her suggestions and let her know that you would like to think about it before you buy, that she hopefully won't pressure you. Maybe she can offer some samples so you can try things out before you would buy. Hopefully she'll look through your current stash and help you work with what you have, maybe supplementing it with another product or two.
Good luck and have fun at your facial! |

I just went to an Aveda Spa for my b-day last week and she didn't push one thing. When she asked what I used and complimented me on my skin, I guess she knew that I was pretty set on my regimen, why change a thing?
I agree, you should get samples before you have to buy anything for your face.
Enjoy! |

From my experience when they ask you to bring in the products that you've been using, they want to look over them and bash the ingredients. This is usually a setup to sell you a bunch of stuff. I've had a couple facials like this and the last time someone told me to bring my stuff in I just said "oops sorry I forgot them"... I didn't want to buy anything else I didn't really want. I just wanted the facial. Most likely you're in for a heavy sales pitch. |

Well, thats just great. I can't refuse a sales pitch. On the other hand, I have learned so many great things on this forum from all of you just try and let her tell me my stuff is junk. he-he. Honestly though,I don't think I have anything "bad", although maybe I will leave the bare escentuals night revival powder here(recieved it in the mail today) because I can imagine if she saw the first ingredient being mica. Also, ain't bringing my vit.c. Don't want to ruin that baby by bringing it out in the light for half the day.
I asked her if this would cause broken caps, and she said I was getting a customized one after she looks at me under the light(boy is she going to be scared) and she said no, but it may make me break out. Is that normal? |

I got the facial, still look the same, so disapponting, but she was nice and not to sales gimmicky. Showed her my products and she didn't say anything bad about the ingredients, actually nothing good either, but then she got up and said let me show you what we have. Sooooooo, I bought the spf 30, I figured what the hell, didn't have one yet so it wasn't a total waste of money. Then I had to pay 5 dollars extra for every added thing in it, so I got the capilary one and the blemish serum put in it. The brand is bioelements. Has anyone heard of it before? |

Really? That stinks, would have bought it off them. I bought the bioelements year round protector. I hope it works well with the added stuff and dosen't make me oily. Thats a triumph in itself.
Do you know where I would fit it into my routine? I don't want to quit using photagen during the day. Also I don't want to give up my decleor ylang ylang oil and matt skin fluid.
Would the sunscreen go over or under? Thanks |

I used the sunscreen today and it was a thick creamy texture. Don't really like it to be honest. It made my face shiny after I had already put on my anti oilies stuff. So I applied some more decleor on top of it. It really makes me mad to spend that much money on something and see that I hate it. Of course, should have tried a sample first, haven't I learned anything here? I guess people with dry skin may love it, it is after all thick and creamy, but its kind of like a hand cream that dosen't absorb. I'm on the fence about whether to keep using it because it also has the other stuff in it, or to give it up before I end up scaring off the crows with all that shine.
Off the topic, I was wondering if anyone has tried Dr. Schwabs flawless face fluid. It says look good in any light. I looked into it and it looks pretty good. I saw it in an ad in a spa magazine and now really want to try it. I think it was around 33 dollars so was wondering if anyone had any amazing result before I bit the bullet. Thanks everyone. |
