I want to get rid of my old stuff, like printer & desktop.
I just don't want to throw them into the garbage container. Anybody can tell there is any recycle depot in Vancouver? |

I'd like to know too!
There was a spot on Global a few months back where a company takes them and "refurbishes" them and gives them to needy people etc. I didn't get the name though.
There's so much computer/electronic crap that we need to get rid of... |

I really have to warn you about this. Yes, it sounds like a good idea in theory, but its really not. Either keep it yourself or demolish it. I know, I know, I know... but what most people fail to realize is that they have so much personal information in their old computers, from credit card info to scandalous pictures. Even if you deleted and reformatted your hard drive, for instance I could still dig out that info. Being in computer forensics, I'm telling you, the technology is far to advanced to just be giving away old computers. I did some googling for you to back up my case... here's a good article from CNET you may want to have a look at before you decide to give away a computer:

Btw, even if you used an average "secure shredding" program, the technology and know how is here where fragments of that info could be pulled out and pieced together. Most likely that wouldn't happen with your computer, it would have to be someone doing it with malicious intent if you just "recycled it", but I do it for legit reasons all the time. It's pretty scary to me how so many people are recycling computers now a days. Printers and monitors however are great to donate! |

In any case, where do you get rid of it? It seems like such a waste to throw out an old monitor or printer... |
