They just brought out Dr. Weils plantidote serum here in Japan and I got a good-sized sample yesterday, but I am wondering if anyone here has used it long-term and what they think..
My husband likes the smell of it, so it is unlikely I will get to use much of the sample
I managed to find more information on the product on Dr. Weil's websitewww.drweil.com/u/QA/QA358751/ ) but was wondering if anyone also had a list of the ingredients. |

a bump
I went into our city's only department store today and wanted to get a sample or even steal a look of the ingredients.
Well good grief Origins don't give any samples of anything that is like under $40 it seems.. such scrouges. I also asked for an ingredients list, but they seem to only have little ingredients cards for some of their items. Dr Weil's stuff seems too Holy Grail to even be given out.
So I tried to hide from the SA while I read the box (she was trying to do a Clinique Skin Analysis on me!!).
The ingredients list is LONG. And I noticed the first ones were water, bute or prop glycol. But no parabens. Everything else was just a bunch of botanical extracts. So it seems like a pretty 'active' serum.
What is really weird is... The SA pumped a blob into the back of my hand and massaged it in. I didn't really take notice of it because I can never get a feel of what a product will be like just from having it applied to my hand... BUT now that I look at it some 6 hours later, there is a really noticeable white patch where it was applied. |

I also tried this over at japan KIX airport. I really liked it but they did not give out samples. SA only gave me White Tea samples. I liked the smell too, and the serum was really nice. Pricey though... |

miranets please describe this more. Does the white spot look like something bad happened to your skin or are you saying white as in luminous, healthy? |

I have not gotten round to trying my sample bottle yet. I guess I am super lucky to have gotten it!! Thing is, I need to find something else I like like I need a hole in the head. I already have a full routine of products and several that are on a "man, I want to try a full bottle of that" list |

Hi Theresa
Sorry for such a late reply, I never received any topic reply notification even though I am watching this topic.. weird..
Since the SA only applied this to my skin once, it's hard to say what the reason was.
Basically when I looked at my hand again when I was doing this post I noticed this circular patch that was lighter in colour than the rest of my skin. It wasn't an irritation obviously, because then it would be red or itching.
But the whiteness was definitely there, and not one of those psychological things that happen when you are too excited about a product.
The patch was gone the next day and my skin wasn't noticeably softer either (unlike when I had a DH routine done, the skin was soft for days)

Thanks miranets. Hopefully some other users will be able to tell us if this has happened to them. |

I got a sample of this today. It smells really nice to me and felt good on my hand when I tried it. Anyone has any update about this product? |

I got a small sample from the Origins store and I had a reaction to it--red and itchy skin. Yuck. Not what I was looking for.
I was just grateful it was only a sample. |

have you looked into Topix Replenix Green Tea serum and Pevonia's RS2 concentrate?
Also it is a good idea to analyse the cause of redness as there are different products out there to treat different issues. Or a simple tweak in regime may be the answer. |

I'm not sure if anyone is still interesting in the Plantidote stuff, but since I've just finished my full size bottles of Plantidote mega-mushroom face serum (50 ml/ 1,7 oz.) and Plantidote mega-mushroom eye serum (15 ml/ 0,5 oz.) I thought I'd do a review.
I've been using both serums since august 2009. I am 38 years old with dry, sensitive skin and sometimes I have these red spots in my cheek area that look like I've applied too much blush in a blotchy manner.
Let's start with the face serum:
It's a bit heavier than most other serums I've used. It's not just moisturizing and watery, it feels more like a regular face lotion. That's because there are some oils in it and it contains squalane. That is responsible for that soft smooth feeling on the face.
The list of ingredients is very long!
Here are just the first few ones:
water
chamomile flower water
squalane
glycerin
yeast extract
butylene glycol
caprylic triglyceride
olive fruit oil
meadowfoam seed oil ...
Besides of being a nice additional moisturizing layer and feeling smooth on my skin it just did nothing for my skin.
I noticed no effect in the sensitiveness of my skin and no effects on my red spots.
Won't buy this again.
the eye serum
I applied it religiously morning and evening. First I used the eye serum and then I followed with my usual eye cream because the serum on its own is not enough for the really dry skin around my eyes.
This serum did really nothing besides being an additional layer of moisturizing stuff under my eye cream. But there are a lot of much cheaper options for that.
It has a long ingredients list too.
The first few ingredients are:
water
myrtle leaf water
chamomile flower water
methyl trimethicone
yeast extract
butylene glycol
polysorbate40
dimethicone
peg100 stearate
silica ...
I will not repurchase the eye serum again. |
