I was getting great results with the City Lips and the HA caps. But I was also taking so many other supplements and was trying to cut that down to what was nec. I felt I was getting good results with the CL alone. I was. but after several weeks of CL alone, my lips were just not as plump as I would like. I was wondering if I just would not react the same anymore . I know they are better than when I stared all of it though.
So I bought another bottle of HA caps (on sale at Whole foods for $13 as opposed to $21) and viola! Man my lips are plump! I just get amazing results with this combo. So I am back on them and loving my lips!!
I think you ladies had seen my results on that webpage I have for my Obagi progress, lips and hair growth serum.
BTW, with the hair growth serum, I have gained an inch of new growth in 30 days. I was using the MTG and it was horrible to smell so I made my own and it is working just as well. I'm posting new pics today or tomorrow. |

wenrwdy, are you taking a different brand of HA capsules this time or the same brand as the first time? I took hydraplenish and I'm not sure I noticed much of a difference.. maybe.. maybe not. I was taking two a day, I stopped, but I just got a new bottle with my vitacost order yesterday. How much HA are you taking a day? |

Hello everyone!
I am new to EDS and this is my first post. (I have lurked for awhile and finally decided to become an active member.) It may sound weird but I feel as if I know a lot of you already just by reading all your posts!
I have a question for wenrwdy. I have been following your hair growth progress and would like to know more about your homemade serum. I am definitely interested in growing my hair longer and would love to know how to make my own serum. Would you be willing to list the ingredients?

You know just like Carekate was going market her eyelash serum, I was going to dothis with mine. I was looking for test subjects to use it and see how it effects everyone. I could use one more so PM me.
but like Carekate, I wanted to have everyone sign a waiver if that is ok. |

I have tried a few different brands, and I seem to have gotten the best results with the above brand from Whole Foods. |

I also notice that my lines are a bit more plumped when I use those as well. I mean I have to take a double take. |

I started taking the HA Biocell collagen pills about 2 weeks ago. I didn't really believe that this would do anything but in fact it did. My lips are already plumper and my elbow which had been sore feels better. |

I also take these. I use the Hydraplenish brand that comes with MSM. (I have tried the plain Hydraplenish w/o MSM and haven't notice a difference between the 2)...I definitely notice a difference in my joints being less sore, and lips being more plump. It seems like my skin is better overall too. But.
The reason I will probably Always take this from now on has to do with my eyes! I got Lasik surgery last year and suffered from severe night blindess while driving, as a result. I'm not sure if anyone is afflicted by this, but it is pretty devastating. Not only could I not drive at night...I couldn't drive in rain either. Even being in a car when someone Else was driving gave me a headache due to the intense glare from oncoming headlights/streetlights. Since I started taking the HA, this affliction has almost reversed! I can drive at night now, watch tv in the dark, go to the movies...all things I had been missing out on for about a year. I know it is 100% caused by the HA though, because if I forget to take them for even 1 day, that night my vision is terrible with the glare again.
My sister has allergies and dry eye syndrome, so she can no longer wear contacts regularly, after years of being able to. I got her to start taking the HA, because I thought it might help her eyes. She recently was able to wear contacts for her wedding, all day into the evening with no problem! And had nice plump lips to boot!
I hate feeling like I am dependent on it, but I love HA!

Sharky-I take just 2 a day...I tried 4 but didn't notice an (additional) difference. I didn't have a problem with night vision bfore the surgery, only after...but not anymore, thanks to HA! |

I stopped taking them (HA pills) for a couple days and my lips and heels got really dry. I couldn't figure out what the heck was going on until I remembered the pills. So I'm back on them today. Can we get physically dependent on them? That kind of freaks me out! |

Cloud_9-
I'm not sure!
When I stop taking the HA (or forget), I think I just go back to 'normal'. My lips are less plump, my night vision is bad, and depending on the day/weather, my joints don't feel as good either.
So I am dependent on the HA, personally, because I like the results. My body is not, as far as I can tell. I recently went off hormonal birth control after a number of years, and I can tell you my body definitely Was dependent on the hormones. My body is still not back to normal.
The HA is completely different, for me.
But if you are worried, I would suggest weaning yourself from the HA. I would also suggest googling long term results/side effects etc. I will no longer put anything in my body I don't feel comfortable with, or feel like I am getting side effects from.
HTH! |

As Olyn said, when you stop taking the HA pills, the places on your body that benefited from the supplement merely return to the state they were in BEFORE you began using them. I'm willing to bet your heels were dry and cracked before you began taking the pills -- I know mine used to be! |

Hi Wenrwdy!
Hair growth serum!
You have my attention! KGF, msm, sod, biotin, paba, rosemary, mint? I'm just insane trying to get long hair...I even bought a "hair growth laser!" And I have a subliminal CD, "Fast & Natural Hair Growth"
Not getting anywhere near your inch per month, though!
P.S. I take HA capsules for skin in general...lips no different, but they've had fillers so they're probably immune to anything natural. |

Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring substance in your body. As you age the amount made declines. No, you can't become physically dependant.

Over the summer I started taking Hydraplenish with MSM as well. I had crushed my leg and ankle in an ATV accident and was hoping to help heal my ankle. I was taking several other supplements at the time, so it was hard to identify what did what. I was focused on my leg (which healed great, BTW!), but I clearly noticed several other side effects. First, my hairdresser could not believe how fast my hair was growing and how healthy it was. Also, my boyfriend noticed that my nails where strong and looked fabulous. I also noticed that the crows feet around my eyes were nearly gone. I work on computers all day, so my eyes are usually very dry and strained by the time I get home, but strangely I didn't even think about them.
Once I finished my rehab (after about four months), I stopped taking the HA. Initially things were fine, but slowly everything started to go back to how it was before. My nails started becoming thinner and breaking more often. My hair stopped growing as fast and was dry again. And, my eyes started absolutely killing me at work, which probably contributed to the recurrence of crows feet. I was very upset that my wrinkles were looking so bad, but then I looked at pictures and noticed that I just looked like I had looked before. I promptly started taking the Hydraplenish again, and I immediately started to feel my eyes recovering.
I don't think you become dependent on HA, you just take the results for granted and forget for the moment that things aren't normally that way. As the HA levels in your body return to what they were before, so do your symptoms. It's just like taking Glucosamine/Chondroitin for joint pain or vitamin E for cold sores. When you stop, the symptoms return.
One thing I'm interested in is the amount of HA that you all are taking. I am taking the Hydraplenish "intensive use" recommendation, which includes 200 mg of HA and 1200 mg of Hydrolyzed Collagen Type II daily. How many milligrams of HA do your supplements contain? Are any of you taking this second ingredient? If so, what are your thoughts on it?
Thanks in advance!! |
