Hey gals~
Still learning so much from the forum, and knowing that everyone has their own idea on the best way to treat their skin; here's a question for you:
What do YOU believe to be the best preventative skin care regmine (before lines, dark circles, and after acne)?
I know that Vit-C is a must, as well as sunscreen and O2 serum. What about Matrilyx and and copper peptides? |

I think copper peptides is for more mature skin. To treat sagging or to prevent. I can't remember which. |

Uhm actually O2 serum is definitely not a must. Especially not for prevention. I use it myself and feel it's more for calming when your skin is irritated. Consensus is that retinoids are the most effective prevention. |

No, I think for prevention susncreen with high UVA protection and staying out of the sun generally are a must, while vit. C optional. Actually, other types of antioxidants (both in skincare and diet) are quite good as well.
Copper and retin-A/retinol are more for treating/reversing purposes than prevention. The latter will make your skin more easily damaged by the sun, therefore you have to use VERY high PPD sunscreen, sunglasses and hat (and you are still not protected 100% even through this way) during the daytime. So I would suggest resorting retinoids with caution, esp. when you don't have any line or wrinkle yet. |

I think the use of a good skin care line like Remergent, Cellcosmet or Valmont. I just wish I had access to these 20 years ago. |

I really think that the best Preventative Skincare is a good healthy diet, some supplements and yes not too much sun, also little stress and a good nights sleep |

The absolute number 1 beauty tip: keep your face OUT of the sun at all times, that will keep you looking younger longer than any miracle cream. I am very careful about that,I use special shades in my car so the sun doesnt shine on my face. I dont believe sunscreens work that well to protect you and also I heard sunscreens were actually bad for you....Number 2 beauty tip-only sleep on your back that will prevent wrinkles from forming , this is hard to do though. |

For me, sunscreen has been the single most effective preventive tool for other skincare probs. The challenge has been finding the best s/s that works for me without making be break out. |

A good Vitamin C antioxidant serum and sunblock with an SPF of at least 30. |

Another vote for staying out of the sun. Also, enjoy life and have LOTS of fun. I've yet to see a miserable old cow who actually looked good. If you've spent your entire life complaining and whining, it WILL eventually show in your face Plus, if someone is fun to be around, makes you laugh, you don't really notice their physical imperfections |

SPF only tells you how much UVB protection you get. We need to know not only the SPF rating of the product, but also how much UVA protection it can offer, which SPF rating can't tell you. UVA rays are the aging rays. |

If I could go back 20 years and change anything, it would be to wear good UVA/UVB sunscreen everyday and a big hat whenever out in the sun for extended periods of time. |

I second this. When I was in my early 20's I would be out in the sun and never put sunscreen on or thought that a little of SPF 15 did the job. I'm glad and quite lucky I'm not showing any signs of it (perhaps I"ll pay for it later ). Now I'm a sunscreen fanatic and literally freak when the sun touches my face (can we say psycho?)
I think sunscreen is the number one key now and moisture. Skin needs to be hydrated very to maintain some sort of balance. Also exfoliation. |

A lot of grief would be avoided if people stayed out of the sun and suntan beds. If you do that all the other stuff from vit c on would work that much better and many of us would be paler but happier as time goes by. |

I think many have missed the point Parentsaver wanted help with. She knows about Vit C and sunscreen but it is the rest that she wants help with. I still stick with my advice for good brands and my recs are Valmont, Remergent and Cellcosmet because I use them and they deliver results. |
