I am at my wits end with eczema and psoriasis ... it migrates each year from shins, to elbows, to armpits, and currently for the last year, it is all over my palms. It stays for a year at each location and is always raw, itchy, cracking, bleeding, etc. etc.! So uncomfortable and all the creams I use don't help. Just wondering if anyone has found anything that helps or methods/treatments that I may have overlooked? I'm willing to try just about anything. Thanks .......

my son has eczema really bad in summer.i noticed it starting in the crease of the inside of his arm last weekend and i had read on here about emu oil being good for eczema so i put it on his arm. and be darned if it wasnt gone the next day! so maybe that would help you some. he hasnt gotten a full blown break out yet so i dont know if it will work then but i am going to keep a bottle around just in case! |

I have had eczema for 9 years. The worst of it is over and i think i'm slowly growing out of it. I still get eczema on my legs when the seasons change or whenever i shave/wax my legs (i know this is a dilemma...i have resorted to bleaching ). I have tried Emu oil but found it not much of a help, since i had to apply liberally to get some moisture (which is a waste of [expensive] product), or else the texture is too thin and it doesn't spread easily. What i have found to help the most is good old Vaseline body lotion (you get a big bottle for cheap). When my skin is constantly moisturized, my eczema is kept at bay and my skin doesn't itch. Then again i guess everyone who suffers from eczema knows that, but it really is true. |

I bought my mom a cream called "Freederm" for her eczema. She's says it works great. |

I've got excema, I have tried soooo many things, and it's odd how some things work Great for others but not for everyone.
what works for me (at the moment) is palmers cocoa butter of all things! Karite shea butter with patchouli- smells strong so when I use it it's at night. Also emu oil, I have the "laid in montana" brand, I am sure they have a website as does "karite". I want to try this emu oil next - http://www.longviewfarms.com/ . Plain old olive oil and cocoa butter melted and slathered on after a shower. Messy but it helped me.
healthy diet and excercise are really important, they make a difference for me. Drink lots of water, green tea, chamomile, I use honey in mine and sometimes lemon:) Also I take B complex and primrose oil supplements.
also RELAX!!!! Really, it helps. take some time out, garden, paint, sex, wine...(not necessarily in that order:)...whatever relaxes you, and do it on a regular basis. My husband is always telling me sex will cure anything ailing me LOL.
Hang in there, keep at it, and don't let it get ya down!

Thank you all for sharing your remedies with me ... I will try to hang in there and give some new things a try! I have also noticed that sometimes I try a new cortisone or moisturizer that it seems to work at first and I see my skin clearing up ... but then a week later, it reverts back to the same. Sigh.
A friend of mine also recently told me someone she knew tried a "detox" type of diet and it worked for them ... but I don't know if I am up for something like that just yet.
Thanks again for all the input, I will definitely check some of it out! |
