What do you all use for mascara in the summer?
I used to do waterproof stuff (no musss, no budge) but lately have been curious about using a natural product like Dr. Hauschka, etc. I am particularly interested in the Real Purity brand mascara--
Ingredients:
Purified Water
Beeswax
Glycerin
Candelilia Wax
Cellulose
Pure Plant Extracts
Iron Oxide.
Has anyone tried it?
Thanks! |

Janie - Do you live in a humid environment? I'm in Dallas and since this mascara is so easy to remove, I'm afraid it wouldn't last long in this humidity. I'm looking for something that I can take on my cruise to the caribbean and I'm not sure if Dr. H would work. Thanks! |

What about having your eyelashes dyed or buying a home lash dying kit, it is so much easier than applying mascara everyday and there are no worries about the humidity. |

I very rarely bother with mascara anymore, but when I do use my royal blue (!) Dr. H mascara, it stands up well to the Austin heat and humidity so it ought to work for those up I-35 a ways! I don't apply any mascara to my lower lashes so I can't comment on that, but it stays on my upper lashes without smudging until I'm ready to remove it! |

Like Carekate, I'm very happy with the Dr Hauschka blue, but only apply it to my upper lashes.
Since I've been using the Lucia/Ardell combo, and tinting with the 1000 Hours kit, I don't need to tint my lower lashes at all. In fact, most days I don't bother wearing mascara as you can now actually see the my lashes do exist. |

Hi Tam, I actually live in Denver, BUT I have very oily skin and the mascara does not spread all over my eyes-like Benefit bad lash. I'm just so happy to find something that doesn't irritate my eyes! |

Thanks everyone. I do tint my lashes every now and then and plan to before our cruise, but I still like something that gives them a bit more "pop" and helps keep them in place. They're pretty long and so they get unruly sometimes. I do apply mascara to my bottom lashes generally, but probably will just rely on the tint during my cruise. Thanks for everyone's help. I'll be ordering mine soon!
By the way, has anyone compared this to the Neutrogena lash tint? I'm just curious as to how they compare, even though I'm sure the Neutrogena one isn't very natural. |

It's crap. You're better off getting the Peter Lamas "Lash Masque" instead if you want to go that route (search the forum using "lash masque" as keywords for more info about it). |

Thanks! I won't waste my time then. I just figured I'd ask since it's cheaper and a heck of a lot easier for me to swing by and pick up. |

Okay I'm about ready to order my Dr. H, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me how long a tube of it lasts? Does it dry out easily?
Carekate - Can you tell me about how long it takes to get from EDS to Texas? I need to plan ahead since I'm sure customs delays it. Thanks! |

I don't do anything to my lashes much. But when I want them to pop more I curl them with an eyelash curler and then apply a bit of castor oil to get them to stay in place. It's very soft and natural and not hard or stiff looking like many mascaras are, and it also makes a good lash building treatment at the same time. I don't usually add any color cause my lashes are naturally brown, but when I want them a little darker I just mix the castor oil with some dark brown eye shadow first. Use a eyelash brush to apply it as well. Works nice for me. I am thinking of ordering Miessence's mascara though to see how it is and if it's any better. I've just never been big on mascara though. |

I get my EDS orders in about 5 business days from the time I ordered.
FYI - they carry the Dr. Hausckha cosmetics at Whole Foods so if you're afraid it won't arrive in time from EDS, just take a jaunt to Whole Foods and buy a tube there. |

BYRG I love the idea of trying this, I have a full pot of BE loose black eyeliner powder that I could use.
I too am not a big fan of mascara, it drives me nuts having to brushes all the clumps out or brush to seperate my lashes, so I think I will give this a try |

I think the best thing to do for summer is just get your eyelashes tinted. Personally I don't normally wear mascara as I have very sensitive eyes, but luckily I already have fairly dark lashes I haven't tried the Dr H one or any of the other natural based ones, but I recently got a sample of Clinique's naturally glossy mascara & I was suprised at how good it actually was considering it was Clinique! But it looks/feels really light & natural, & isn't clumpy at all. |

I do the same thing, sort of, but in reverse order. I apply a coat of my homemade lash serum (which contains castor oil as one of the ingredents) then use a HEATED lash curler to curl my lashes. This makes my (tinted w/ 1000 Hours blue-black tint) lashes look glossy and "locks" in the curl all day. Before my lash serum, I did the same thing with my trusty Ardell Lash Growth Accelerator serum.... |

I am a strawberry blonde who has always worn brown mascara until one day I looked in the mirror and realised that it made me look silly. Now I actually don't wear mascara anymore but I would like to order one especially designed for redheads. It's such a shame that they only make mascara for brunettes.

Actually, there is a cosmetic line that was developed especially for redheads. In fact, I think it might be calledwww.justforredheads.com. Hmm, apparently there is now more than one company catering to Titian goddesses: Google "redheads" and "makeup" and it'll return hits to those companies. |

Hi carekate,
Yes, that's the one! I must order one day. It's a great site for us reds but it still amazes me that the "bigger" companies don't cater for blondes at least. I guess some blondes aren't natural so they have the darker eyebrows to match. I just find that since my eyebrows are also strawberry blonde, I look really silly with dark lashes.
I think maybe I am taking it all too seriously - lol

I guess I'm fortunate in the fact that my brows are naturally dark brown even though my hair is dark red/auburn. Because of this, I can get away with black mascara although I prefer purples or navys -- when I bother to wear mascara -- because it really makes my green eyes pop. |

Kiss Me mascara by Blinc is the ULTIMATE in non-smudge mascara. I can put it on my lower lashes and ramble around in 100 degree temperatures all day and not a smudge or flake to be seen. It's definitely cry proof but I haven't tried swimming in it yet. It's a pretty fascinating concept for mascara, the formula forms mini " tubes " around your eyelashes. It doesn't clump at all either! I love it! |

I bought the Kiss Me mascara several years ago and I really liked it. The only problem with swimming in it: don't rub your eyes! I remember getting the little "tubes" everywhere then.
Now that we in Denver *finally* have a Sephora near us (it just opened!!!), I will be able to buy it again. I had forgotten about it! |

I have been using this for a month now and am surprised at how good it is. I have been looking for a replacement for the Shu Uemura Mascara Basic mascara because I did not like the fact that it was waterproof and I felt like I had to spend forever to build up my lashes for even a "natural" look (BTW I have very full lashes so you would think that it should be easy to do this!). I honestly am considering replacing the Shu with this, although I do have a few more mascaras that I want to try first. It does not clump, does not smudge and gives a nice amount of coverage with minimal effort. It is not a natural product but I really am impressed by this. Never thought I would say this about Clinique although honestly I am pretty impressed with their brow powder too. |

I use Dr H or Lavera....Ecco Bella is the nicest of the 'naturals' but irritates me a little. |
