Something possessed me to read the back of my Cetaphil bottle last night - the gentle cleanser in the blue bottle - and I noticed for the first time that there are two cleansing methods, one without water and one with water.
I've been using it regularly for a long time and just out of natural instinct, used water with it.
Is there any difference in effect using it without water? Does it depend on your skin type? I'm combo with an oily t-zone.

| I used to use Cetaphil when I made my own makeup removing wipes. I would get this real high quality wipe material from my friend's work and I would mix together stuff like tea trea oil, cetaphil (purposely because it says it doesn't need to be washed off and I was going for the waterless wipes) and a few other ingredients I can't think of right now.. I have it written down somewhere. Anyway, I think leaving it on is more for moisturization. If I was around water I would have prefered to wash my face off but I made them back when I was in a dorm and too lazy at times to go all the way out to the bathroom but knew I had to wash my face before I went to sleep. |

I use Cetaphil gentle cleanser in the morning, I rinse though because I'm oily (and flaky usually  ) It doesn't strip my skin and keeps it moist but isn't greasy, it really is the best I've found.
When I accidentally tried to take my face off by exfoliating while using a prescription retinoid, I used Cetaphil without water because the water was really irritating, too drying. I think that's why most don't use it with water, the really irritated, sensitive and dry types. Or, for those who need a convenient way to wash when water isn't readily available. |

| it depends on the level of sensitivity you have to cleansers, and if you want extra moisture. I personally feel better rinsing my face after cleansing, but there was a few times i did not and could definitely feel a difference in the softness of my skin. |

| I personally prefer to rinse it off with water too, unless your skin is very dry and sensitive. |

| I rinse with water and use my JI cleansing mitt, which seems to really help it clean. |

| I use the cetaphil cleanser in the morning. I find that it doesn't clean my makeup very well. After I wash my face with it and then I use the cotton with toner to wipe my face, my face still has traces of makeup. So at night, I would use another cleanser to clean the makeup. And I use the Cetaphil cleanser in the morning and I just wipe it off with a warm wet towel, no rinsing with water. Then I follow with a toner. |
