In two days of use (using only once, at night, since I was afraid of it drying out my skin) all of my pimples that I had not picked at were gone.
In one week of using it around 9 times (I got brave a couple days and used it in the morning as well) my face was entirely clear.
To me, those are insane results! I was shocked to see how much it had cleared my face after the very first night. And I've selfishly kept the secret. At the start of using this product my face was really breaking out all over the place. Normally my skin is quite calm but it was getting pretty bad on my chin and my forehead so that my entire chin was a mess and my forehead was catching up. I gave it a bit of time without treating the problem thinking that it would just go away. But it just kept getting worse.
I love this product!
It is a three step regimen similar to Proactive. But a much better deal, in my opinion, since my face does not feel dried out and there was no getting worse before the getting better started. It was over night!! And I feel comfortable using it only once a day (the directions say to use it twice a day) so that I can slather my face with my other gunks and goos when I want to.
The cleanser has 1% salicylic acid, the toner has glycolic acid, and the lotion has 2.55% benzoyl peroxide as sort of a divide-and-conquer attack.
It costs about $25 dollars at Walgreens. Haven't checked Walmart. |

Wow, Harmonster, those are great results! Congratulations! I wonder if anyone else has tried this...is it a new product? |

I didn't know that L'Oreal offered an acne system. |

I've been thinking about finding a cheaper alternative to proactiv-- the only difference between this loreal stuff and proactiv seems to be the cleanser. the proactiv has BP.
Harmonster, what's the cleanser like in this system? does it have scrubbies in it like Proactiv?
Does it have a lot of fragrance added? |

The cleanser has teensy tiny scrubbies. Sort of feels slightly gritty on your face and it foams up a little as you massage it in. It's gel-like.
There is "alcohol denat." in both the cleanser and the toner, though the paper inside the box says the toner is "alcohol free" which puzzles me. No fragrance in any step.
The "lotion", or third step, should not be confused with a moisturizer and is more like a spot treatment. It's very drying and sort of tacky feeling on your skin. I'd advise using this step no more than 1 time a day and putting on a moisturizer afterward.
I feel that using this three-step process at night is more than enough. I think using it in the morning also would dry out your face terribly. It's lovely using the orange essence cleanser in the morning because it puts a lot of moisture back into your skin, smells like orange juice (wake up call!), and the salicylic acid from the L'Oreal cleanser seems to help loosen gunk from your pores so that the oil based cleanser can tug them out. |

Hi Harmonster
Those results are "unreal". I had NO SUCCESS on Proactiv. In fact my skin felt irritated. red and I could not even touch it. All along with more and more blemishes. can you compare the two products? more in depth? I am skeptical |

Proactiv didn't work for me either. It made my skin super oily and I was still breaking out like crazy. |

Hi Yen
I noticed that Loreal is really promoting this three step system. After reading posts here, I went out and bought it. I have been using Neutragena Blemish and Wrinkle for about a week, and I am not having success. So I thought was the heck. I used this for the first time last night, and yes this might be premature, but WOW, I really liked how clean my face felt. I love the toner. I am a toner girl, but have never found a toner that either does not dry the heck out of my skin, or burn. The toner in this three step proagram I did like. In fact, I have a few "spots" that I have over picked (bad bad!!), and I held the cotton ball with toner on it over these spots last night, not only did it take away the redness, it helped dry them up. This morning they already look better. I am not greasy this morning either, which I usually am. I will update everyone on my progress, I know it is too early to really say...but I like day one! |

bergquis, I really hope that kit works out for you. Keep us updated on your progress. I don't think I'd try that kit because I know from a lot personal experience that my skin doesn't react well to BP. I recently went back to Serious Skin Care (SA based) and it's working. |

Well for me with Proactiv I felt really restricted like I had to ritualistically follow their three step program morning and night or ELSE!! :O Using Proactiv I still broke out, just not as much as I had been before. There was also the initation period of Proactiv where your skin actually gets worse before it gets better, and honestly I expected something similar with the L'Oreal kit but it didn't happen.
The L'Oreal cleanser is my favorite step because it just feels cool on your face. It's a gel. You don't need to use more than half a dime's size, and it's slightly gritty with microbeads and it foams up a ton. The cleanser just makes you feel super-clean, not dried out or anything.
The toner feels just like you're wiping your face with water. Again, very non-drying.
The "lotion" is what I feel is the evil-step in the process. If the kit is drying out your face cut down on this and it will go back to your normal moisture balance, but the lotion really does knock out any current blemishes you have. Like I described in an earlier post this third step is like a spot treatment. It dries sort of sticky until you put moisturizer on, and I really recommend putting on moisturizer after you finish your steps.
I love how my face isn't red with this program! I'm super-pale and almost everything turns me pink and it drives me nuts I'm to the point where I'm using the cleanser/toner/lotion only a couple times a week and it's keeping me clear. |

I am still using this product and IN LOVE with it. I use the three step program at night and in the AM I skip the last step (the BP lotion) and so far, no dry skin for me. I notice my skin is smoother, clogged pores and becoming clear (I have been doing my own extractions and notice they are not coming back). The gel cleanser is not to harse, but has the micro scrubies in it so it takes off every trace of make up (w/ the exception of eye makeup, I remove before hand, don't use this around my eye area). The toner is not harse, but cool and refreshing. So far (knock on wood), I have not had any breakouts, minor as I have in the past, I am wondering though, my skin may still be purging slightly. I highly recomend for those people who have tried EVERYTHING out there and are not happy, to give this one a shot. I did go purchase the Loreal Adult Intensive Peel and use it the other night, YUCK..I did not like. It was too heavy for me and my pores did not feel clear. Although I had no breakouts, I just did not like the feel of it on my skin overnight. So I am returning it. |

I have to admit, this does sound tempting...but I'm trying to stay away from BP as it increasing free radicals/causes premature aging. |

Me too Olyn... I already am worried enough about what kind of damage I did to my skin during my years of BP use. The good news is that I'm currently trialing Nature's Gate 3 step kit which has BP-alternatives in it. I'll let you know how it goes! |

I have to agree that this kit is pretty awesome!. The only thing it's missing is a good moisturizer designed specifically for the other products in the kit. That being said, a good oil-free spf moisturizer works great (Be prepared to spend around $10).
This kit is actually better than the treatment program that my dermatologist had me on. (And the cost is downright amazing).
I'm always intrigued by the "big-business" nature of skin care. And I didn't learn this until I finally userstood how easy skin care is with a little education (I know i'm preaching to the choir here), but to really get the most out of this kit, I thought I'd pass on a few things that i've learned from dermatologists in the past, research, and my personal experience with this kit;
1. Step 3 drying skin - Especially when you're just starting out, be SURE that your skin has dried after washing it and applying the toner before applying Step 3. when your skin is wet, your pore's are open and they absorb more of the BP, which increases the drying in your skin. BP by nature, will penetrate deep. So to minimize this and therefor reduce drying, wait 5-10 minutes before applying.
2. This CAN NOT be stressed enough... Moisturize Moisturize Moisturize. Loreal fell short in my opinion by calling Step 3 (the BP lotion) a "lotion". It's a lotion in it's consistancy, but it's not a lotion in the typical way that most people think of it. Step 3 is not a moisturizer. Honestly I think they should have included a good moisturizer or at least stressed it in the instructions. BP will dry your skin by nature. When my dermatologist told me a few years ago that while my skin appeared oily, and I was complaining of oil. My skin was actually dry. When your skin gets dry, especially as a result of a chemical type treatments, your oil glands will actually over compensate. Beleive it or not, oily skin usually tends to be dehydrated skin. This is why a lot of people say they have better skin when they increase their water intake. You'd probably be suprised at how much daily moisturizing can reduce acne. If your skin feels tight after washing it, use a light moisturizer.
3. I noticed a couple of posts on here talking about worying about the free-radicals created by using BP, which increases the risk of premature aging. One of the things that I REALLY love about this kit is the Step 2 toner. One of the ingredients in the toner is Panthenol. Which is Pro-Vitamin B12, a very effective antioxidant, which by nature has really great natural anti-aging and anti-inflamatory properties. Pro-vitamin B12 also helps aid in the skins natural hydration.
4. Also in the Step 2 toner is Glycolic Acid (the best thing since sliced bread in my opinion). GA stimulates collagen and elastin. GA is also the smallest molecular size of all the alpha hydroxy acids, so it penetrates the skin deeper than the other AHA's and provides faster more noticiable results. It also has great exfoliating properties. (It's also supposed to be great for ingrown hairs).
5. I, too, have had problems with the Step 3 lotion being a little too thick to apply evenly. It also dries quickly, adding to the application issues. I don't know if it's recommended, or in any way lesson's the effects of the BP lotion, but just recently i've tried mixing a very small amount of my normal oil-free moisturizer (which is very light) in with the BP lotion, and it makes the BP much easier to apply. I'll update on how that works. BP is water soluble, and being that the moisturizer is not oil based. Worst case scenario, I'm thinking that the BP lotion just gets diluted slightly. I don't notice any difference in the dryness/moisture of my skin when using this method (I also apply moisturizer afterwords) vs not mixing the moisturizer with the Step 3 lotion
5. Another reason to slather that moisturizer on after Step 3 has dried. SPF!!! This kit really gets to the bottom of the acne problem, but in my opinion, to be called a "regemin" it should include, or at least address everything that is needed daily to take care of your skin. And the ingrediants in this kit that make it so awesome and so effective as an Acne treatment program also increases your skins sensativity to sunlight. So don't use this kit without following up with a OIL FREE moisturizer that contains at least 15-SPF UVA and UVB protection.
6. I wouldn't use this kit if you're pregnant or trying to become pregnant. At least without talking to your Dr. first (as with any treatment or medication during pregnancy). While not likely to occur, The SA in the cleanser has some evidence that it can cause birth-defects. Better to play it safe in my opinion. |

I was using LAAR up until about five months ago when it vanished from the department shelves of Spartanburg, SC!!!!!! The only thing selling is the skin cleansing regimen...not the acne peel kit. I need both to keep my acne away. My face was beautiful while I used them according to the directions, but now it is back to being horrible. I have been using Nutrogena's line, but my acne hasn't cleared up. Why did L'Oreal have to take the peel off the market? But I did see a weblink for it, so I am going to try and buy it there. It is very damaging to one's self-esteem to have acne scarred skin |

Hey! I saw your post and registered just so I could tell you that Big Lots has the peel kit for $4. It vanished off of all the drugstore shelves that I could see and reappeared here at a great price
I got one today just so I could check it out and make sure nothing is wrong with it. It's all good so I am going back tomorrow to pick up a few more. |
