Hi there I'm in the process of opening a salon and cannot decide on the skin care line or make-up. In the past I've worked with Dermalogica, Yonka, Phytomer, Babour, Aveda, and Jane Iredale. I like them all but would like some imput from you guys. I would also like to know more about the Bare Escentials line. Can anyone help me?????

Hi there lpraught Very Happy

You could look into the above bare escentials link above the forum for more info about them. I myself use Bare Escentuals and will continue to do so. It did take a little bit to become familiarizing myself with the mixing of the two shades but I have succeeded and like it. There are pros and cons about it though. I love the mineral veil myself. I think you should look into La Bella Donna mineral makeup. I've tried lots of brands and this is fabulous. It is more expensive than Bare Escentuals, but you can't buy it on QVC or on an infomercial. They have a website. I would also research Epicuren for skincare.

Thanks for the welcome. (Is their an official place to review products. I couldn't find a review section to click on.) I've tried many mineral makeups and I've been using La Bella Donna for almost a year. My daughter, also a mineral makeup fan, suggested I try this one. I ordered it from Bergdorf's (Marie and Luigi are very helpful and will send samples so you can get the right color). It just looks so natural, not cakey like some, and the color matches my skintone perfectly. I use Nicoletta. I think the key to getting a mineral makeup that you like is finding the perfect color. I thought the Bare Escentuals colors were too noticeable on my skin (and I tried many colors from their store) and way too shiny. Jane Iredale colors didn't work for me, nor did Youngbood. Colorscience does have some great colors for my skintone, but I didn't like this as well as La Bella Donna. I've liked this line so much that my three sisters, mother and both daughters, as well as many friends swear by it (they never liked mineral makeup before). If you decide to order it. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I hope this helps. If you decide to try it, please let me know how you like it. I also like their mineral eraser. I don't think their brushes are anything special for the money. There's a number on their website that you can call to see if anyone in your area carries La Bella Donna.

Barb, thanks for the reply and helpful info, Wink.
Wow, sounds like a great product since your whole family is using it Surprised. I agree my main problem in finding a MMU is finding the right color, so far no luck. I've tried many different brands: B.E. J.I, earth's beauty, Monave, geografx, etc... My other problem has been finding one that has enough coverage; I've noticed all the ones I've tried seem to emphasize pores rather than conceal. How is la bella donna MMU in terms of coverage? BTW, there is a section called product reviews and if you want to start a separate thread there that's fine by me Wink. Sorry lpraught, for going off topic! But to answer your question, my favorite product lines are: Karin Herzog, Decleor, Dermalogica, and Sothys. Wink

Today I saw the review section!!

I agree with you about mineral makeup emphasizing pores. I found that to be especially true with Bare Escentuals, but not with La Bella Donna. That's another reason I like it so well. I think the coverage is fine. They sell loose and a compact, and when I feel I need to cover something up (pimple I've picked!!), I will use the compressed over the loose. You should ask for some samples to try, as well as the mineral eraser, so you can see how it works for you.
