I was wonder how we all came up with our moniker here on this board.. some have pretty obvious roots, but others I guess have a bit of a story behind them.
For me, my nickname as a kid was Tiger Tim (that is what my dad always called me ... that or Matilda).
When I first "went online" 10 years ago (with MSN) and I had to come up with a name, that was all I could think of.
So, how about everyone else? |

Stella to me, is one of the SeXyist names for a female, I have always loved it and hope to name my future daughter that one day. It is also in a song title from my fave band, I think the full song title is "Stella was a diver and she was always down". Von is a german title put before the last name to signify royalty(i believe)which was stripped after WW2. Many germans believe that it is their birth rite and want to have it reinstated. As far as I know it pre-dates Hitler and is not a symbol of racism. I guess I just thought it sounded good together. |

As for MY name, well I'm Anna and I live in Sweden. |

Jillian because my parents named me Jill and I always wished they would have chosen Jillian and 831 because it's my anniversary. Pretty corny, I know. |

Dollbird was a pet name my dad gave me when i was 5 months old. Apparently to him, i looked like a doll and a baby bird (coz i would always open my mouth to eat whatever he had in his hand) hence the name Dollbird. Yup. |

I think I had been reading a lot of reviews of the JB Green Apple Peel and the word apple just got stuck in my brain. I don't really like appletinis all that much and prefer my martinis old school |

Tiger_tim, you read my mind! I was totally thinking we should start a post like this!! As for my name, like Tiger_tim's it's old--- I've been using it since I first started going online. It was a pretty accurate name 10 or so years ago when I was young, boy-crazy, and a force to be reckoned with, LOL. Now that I lead a quiet life with my husband and two bunny children my screenname doesn't really suit me anymore, but I still use it out of habit... |

Mine's really boring - it's what my nephew called me when he was a toddler and couldn't pronounce my name properly . |

Lucky you! When my mum proudly showed me off to her younger brother not long after my birth, he turned around and said I looked like a "half-sucked mango". Lovely.
Fortunately I grew out of my tortured tropical fruit look into a lovely bird of paradise... (where's that vomit icon?! ) |

Thank GOD you're not my daughter. Her nick name was "stinky head" and my son's "tiny eyes". We Chinese give funny nick names, my brothers, big dumb, 2nd stupid, it sounds funny when translate to English, but does not sound that bad in Chinese. My sister-in-law: Big cow, 2nd tricky, and the last one little knot because she always has her own opinion and not agree with other people, like a knot on a string.
Oh, almost forgot the topic, MACrisis: Middle Age Crisis. I guess I don't really need to spell it out.
Tiger: Were there any stories behind Tiger Tim, why your dad gave you that nick name? My nickname since born was "baby" (I was the yougest) and my parents and brothers still call me that name now. |

I have a cat named Phoebe and I like to think I'm her meow (even though I don't think she likes me much anymore)... like the cat's meow. |

MACrisis: Sorry, its from Dirty Dancing, Jennifer Grey's(I think is her name)nickname in the movie is "baby"...at sort of a climatic point Patrick Swazy says to her parents "nobody puts baby in a corner". Its kind of a infamous line of his and is quoted alot b/c its funny and rather cheesely delivered. Bad joke... |

Liz, I'd always wondered about your screen name 'cause I thought it was so cute! And I'm sure you're still a "force to be reckoned with"...married or not!
As for me, I was clearly not in major creativity mode when I made up my screen name. First name, Mary...last name, Hughes...voila! Mary H. - the most boring moniker on EDS! |

It wasn't that cheesy. I thought it was so sweet how he stood up for her & not letting them treat her like a baby anymore even if that would be what she would be called. Then again, anything Patrick does is good in my book! |

This is a fun thread! This is the first forum I've ever watched/participated in. For a long time, I was too intimidated to come up with a name so it's nice to see how you all have done it.
ellyp = elly as a nickname for my name (Elizabeth) and p is the start of my last name.
My dad worked so hard all my life to make sure I never got a nickname and I continued the fight when I got older. Only a few people have called me "liz" during my life (and they knew I didn't like it) but I had a sweet friend when I was in 5th grade who wanted to call me "elly". I've loved it ever since! She was such a sweet, fun friend that I always feel good when I hear it. She moved away not long after that. |
