A while back I had a reaction of hives + zits + clogged pores that I have been healing and dealing with. In the past two weeks I've gotten two cycts on my chin. It's been amazingly hot in NYC this past week and I did go camping this weekend and I am on the cusp of my menses.
Not sure what to do here. Can anyone advise? Was thinking about about the Renee Rouleau product but the opinions seem pretty polarized. Will not try OCM again--it's no good for my skin. Must I go to a dermatologist or can I work this myself?
Thanks! |

Any time I get cystic acne I go to my facialist who...ok..this may gross you out....
She used an electrolisys needle in the cyst and--no joke it has flattened out and healed in less that 2 days.
It is the best secret around!!! |

Interesting... teatea. What does she do after she sticks in the needle? Does she extract? Does she actually do electrolysis? Or is just sticking the needle in enough? |

No--I really dont know what happens,
I am sure that stuff comes out but the heat kills all of the bacteria inside. It really works though!!! |

Does it hurt? How much does she charge you for one treatment? |

If the cysts are large and/or painful I would suggest a trip to the derms office for a cortisone injection!! I am getting small cysts fairly regularly around my menstrual time too, which I spot treat with a sulphur based product (Murad's SPot Trtment). It helps, but doesn't go away for at least one week..and these are not LARGE cysts either.

it could be weather/humidity, i find changing bed sheets and pillows more frequently also helps a bit.
Sulfur based products or some BHA gets rid of mine in a few days. |

I've been using either Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Serum on mine, or BHA and seem to be getting good results. |

I've been using Serious Skin Care Continuously Clear and Neutrogena Advanced Solutions Acne Mark Fading Peel. Using the Neutrogena Peel has definitely made the difference for me. |

If it hurts, I would go see your doctor. For years I would try different products and try to cure myself with this problem. I'm glad that I listen to a good friend and visited a dermotologist. |

prs, are you a restless sleeper? I find that when I sleep face downwards so that my chin is against the pillow, or find that somehow in the course of sleeping I've rested my chin against my hand or arm I get the same kind of cysts as you described, especially in hot weather. |

Wow! Thanks for these suggestions. Here's what I'm going to try:
A beta Hydroxy product--probably Paula's choice or Renee Rouleau
Continue with topical application fresh aloe pulp/juice (excellent anti-inflammatory, astringent and ph-balancing properties)
And try to find a facialist that I can trust
I sleep on my back and change my sheets 2x a week ... so I'm hoping these habits are not drivers. |
