Hi, I just came back from the derm's office
The dermatologist looked at my acne and prescribed me a whole lot of products and was wondering if anyone has prior knowledge or know anything about the products or should i be careful using these products...
These are the products that my derm prescribed me:
Retin-a Micro
Neobenz micro
And he also prescribed me Solodyn, which i started taking today this morning
Would really appreciate and insight and information as i am hesitant to use retin-a micro and neobenz micro |

Hi Compton! Going to the dermatologist sure can be overwhelming, can't it? Unfortunately I've never heard of the neobenz, but I can help you with the other 2.
First, the Solodyn. As you know, I'm currently taking this and I'm pretty pleased with it. It really helps with inflamed acne, and right now I actually only have one active blemish so I'm pretty thankful. I would recommend taking this stuff with water, on an empty stomach, right before you go to bed. Then, in the morning, you might want to think about taking some sort of probiotic or eating yogurt just so the antibiotic doesn't kill all the good bacteria in your system.
Next, retin-a micro. I haven't used this retinoid, but I'm familiar with it. My advice would be to start as slowly as you can with it to make sure it isn't going to tear your face up. In the evening, wash your face with a gentle cleanser (I've been using Juice Beauty's Green Apple Cleanser and Freeman's Creamy Cleanser), use a mild toner (plain witch hazel, Dr. Hauschka's Toner, Zenbiotic Toner, and Caudalie Grape water are all good options) , and then wait 20 min or so before you apply the retin-a. I'd advise just using it every other night until your skin starts to adjust to it. Then, during the day wash with a mild cleanser, use a mild toner, and then use something soothing like jojoba oil--- again, I'd avoid other actives until you know how your skin will react to the retin-a micro. HTH! |

The only other thing that I would add is that you need to use sunscreen during the day when you use Retin-A. The retin-A makes your skin more suseptable to sun damage so you need to be vigalent about protecting it.
