Hi Gals,

I was wondering if any of the La Bella Donna users on this forum ever tried Bare Escentuals? And if so, can you tell me what colors you used?

Marie at Bergdorf Goodman suggested the Umbria color for me because apparently 90% of her Asian clients use Umbria. Turns out I'm in the 10% that shouldn't use Umbria. Sad I feel bad about returning the item because I already used it (anyone know if they care that I used it already?). The thing is, I called Marie and she's sending me the Marta (Mabsy, this is for you hee hee hee) color soon. I looked online and at their color catalog and the Marta is actually LIGHTER in color (it seems). Perhaps they know what they're doing, but I'm very skeptical about the Marta working out for me.

I use a 2.3 in Bare Escentuals make up and it matches my skin pretty perfectly. The Umbria in La Bella Donna is just a tad light (you can see a "film" on my face from the difference in shade). I was just wondering what others use -- if you use a 2.3 or 3 in Bare Escentuals, I'd love to know what color you use in La Bella Donna (it'll be easier than this dialogue I'm having with the beauty consultant).

Thanks!
Lisa

Well, it turns out I answered my own question ha ha ha Smile

Marie at Bergdorf Goodman is a SPECTACULAR consultant on beauty. The next color deeper than Umbria was, in fact, Marta. When she found out that Umbria wasn't right, she sent out Marta right away (although I had to pay another $50 for it). However, she surprised me by waiving the $10 shipping and handling charge! What a doll Wink

The color matches my skin tone much better. The coverage is definitely different from Bare Escentuals, but it feels soooooooo much lighter so I think I just have to get used to it. Plus, I am currently using the pressed foundation. I'm going to exchange the Umbria (wrong color) for the LOOSE foundation in Marta just so I can have both pressed and loose forms. Perhaps the loose form has better coverage and I can use the pressed form for touch-ups.

In any case, the main difference I've noticed is that Bare Escentuals seems to have more coverage, but it feels heavy. So I would use Bare Escentuals on the days where I may have a few spots more than necessary to cover up. But I think I'll gradually move towards the La Bella Donna line because they're lighter. I also purchased the mineral eraser concealer and it's amazing. It has vitamin K in it . . . it feels very smooth (and almost greasy in texture) but it glides on smoothly!!!!!!

I love La Bella Donna! I know a lot of day spas use the line, so EDS may soon have a LOT of requests for La Bella Donna.

For those of you curious about the line, talk to Marie at Bergdorf Goodman 1-800-558-1855. They send you samples of items you'd like (which is helpful for finding the right color). The other thing you can do (if you want to start using right away), is to have Marie "consult" with you on your skin tone. She'll likely be very close to guessing what color you are. Go ahead and order the full product ($50) and ask her to send a sample of the same thing. So you use the sample first to do a color fit. If it's right, you already bought the product and can start using it. If the color is wrong, just return the product for an exchange. This worked out for me pretty well. It's just a small hassle if you have to return it for an exchange.

Marie's a DOLL -- you will love her!

Glad to see that Marta is working out for you so well! Very Happy LOL

Seriously though, I'm tempted to try it. Two problems though: Price + O/S shipping. I think I might wait and see if EDS gets this or not Smile
