a day or two after i use this serum, my skin looks AWFUL. my skin looks damaged just like it does when i used to use retin a....dehydrated,dry, wrinkled. i look ten years older. i bought this last year -could an outdated C product cause this? anyone else experience this? i cant find anyone else with a similar experience on old posts.
i used to use cellex c and b5 -and i dont remember my skin looking all wrinkly and dry?
thank you! |

duffie--are you using sunscreen also? i don't think the ferulic c e should make your skin look older unless you're having a skin reaction to it maybe? |

hello
no, i rarely expose my face to sun.
the day i apply the CE ferulic, my skin glows and looks great. but, the next few days, it looks dehydrated, saggy, and old looking. this happens EVERY TIME i use it. i bought 5 or so sample vials from ebay. maybe they arent the real stuff bc no one else seems to have a reaction like mine? maybe the samples were bad/old?
thanks! |

duffie--i don't know. it could be a bad batch. i have had the sample vials before and they don't have expirations dates.
but you should be wearing sunscreen even if you don't expose your face to the sun. the sun's uv rays sneak in through the window and fluorescent lighting emits uv also as well the computer screen. |

I think that's a pretty long time to store a C serum. What colour is it now?
Also, are you using a good moisturiser over the top? Some C serums are drying so you need to make sure that you counteract that. HTH |

it is brownish?
good point mabsy about putting moisture on top. when i used cellex c last year, i always put B5 (HA) on top. however, since using SC CE Ferulic, i just put a mediocre lotion on top. (i have yet to find a good moisturizer that works for my skin) maybe the B5 really works to prevent the uglies.
also, good point about the samples not having exp. dates. |

I've been buying the sample vials of Ebay, but am always worried I'm not receiving a genuine product. I don't know why the sellers always unwrap the sample boxes, because they supposedly come sealed up. Anyway I usually throw away the bottle once it's turned a dark yellow colour. They should be a really pale colour when you first get them.
I found that the CE Feurlic did make my skin quite dry, so the B5 gel will be more effective if you use a good moisturiser on top. |

duffie - I'd get rid of it if it was brownish. Still, I think it's more the case of lack of moisture in your case. |

i actually had the same case when i was using vit C 20% and whenever i used an exfoliant, maybe because it is strong for your skin?
Certain product make my skin look like 10 years older. |

I bought a different C serum, and it works well -NO UGLIES! Yay!
The SC CE ferulic samples I bought from ebay must have been expired?
Thanks ladies! |

I found that CE Ferulic made me break out. I stopped using it and I use in on my body instead. |

I use the C+E Ferulic on a daily basis. It doesn't dry up my skin at all. If you would like to benefit from the product and yet might have a skin reaction to it, you could try leaving the C+E Ferulic on for 5 min for absorbtion, then wash it away gently with water before you go on your routine moisturizing regime. This was told to me by my derm. Hope this helps.
But then I wouldn't fully trust buying sample vials from ebay.... |

I used Skinceuticals 10% and 15% C serums. My skin looked older too...in the course of 5 mos. I stopped using them all together. |

Hi Duffie
You're not alone. I have used the SC AOX 20 from May to June and then found my skin was looking really old!!!
I used to use Cellex-C High Potency and the B-5 serum and it never made my skin look bad but better. So I switched back to Cellex-C and then got worried b/c the Cellex-C liquid was pretty brown.
In August, I switched back to SC AOX 20 thinking that maybe it wasn't their product doing that to me. Maybe it was stress or a different moisturizer. Boy, was I wrong. Now I see more lines and sag. Duffie, I don't know if it's the strength of the ascorbic acid or ferulic acid or something else. I am definitely not using it on my face anymore. I purchased them on eBay and they are very light yellow in hue.
If you feel that it is making you look worse, chances are that you shouldn't be using it.
HTH. |

sounds a little unusual. It's supposed to be a very good product. |

thanks for the input ladies. i read a lot of posts about c serums -including feedback on SC CE ferulic- but i never found any posts on this topic.
thanks librarygirl for sharing your experience -which sounds exactly like mine. i could purchase a full size from EDS, and give this serum another (fair) chance...but i dont want to risk it. |
