Has anyone here ever worked for Sephora, or have you known someone that did? What's the verdict? Is it fun? Do you get any kind of discount? I work from home right now and becaue I work with clients in Japan my hours are generally either early in the morning or late at night. That being said, there's a Sephora opening up not 10 minutes from my house, so I thought working there part-time might be a fun way to hear about new products, play with make up all day, etc. Any thoughts? |

I have never worked for Sephora, and I envy you that one is opening up so near your house, but it sure sounds like fun! It will be like working at a candy store!!! And i can imagine all the free samples and employee discounts. Good luck and let us know your next move Liz! |

I haven't worked for Sephora, but I think you would enjoy it. I've got a good feeling that you would enjoy working with the products and the people and you could recommend across brands and really teach people about the ingredients that make a difference in a skin care routine. In fact, you would be the specialist who could put together a custom made routine for them, obviously after trying the products for yourself first |

The only problem I see would be if you actually needed to make money. I think it would actually cost me money to work there. |

I haven't worked there either, but, as a customer, I think you'd be a great person to ask for help since you actually care about products. I can't stand when I go somewhere and I know more about something than them, or they've never even heard of a product that they carry. I know it's retail, but I definitely appreciate it when someone's passionate about their job. |

Liz, I think you should do it. That way, you can provide us with even more product reviews. |

No, but I think it'd be fun. You know what I think would be fun, too? Working at the Clarins counter at Macys. The woman I always see working there wears this long red coat that for some reason I want to wear. I think I'd also like to be the Chanel chick. I always get compliments on my makeup, so I think I'd be good at it. |

Hahahaha, I love you guys!!! I have been thinking a lot of the same things--- for example, how fun it would be to listen to someone's skin concerns and help them put together a routine that would actually help them. And I would definitely love to be able to educate people who come in about ingredients, etc, instead of just pointing them to some big name brand and saying that I've heard it's really good. And then selfishly I think it would be great to try new products as soon as they come out, get samples of all the new stuff (for me and for my EDS girls, of course! )... It's opening up in October, so I'll definitely keep you guys updated. |

I'm with Yen! Seriously, though...with your naturally helpful nature, you would be fantastic at a job like this. Plus, like Dollbird said, the prospect of all those free samples and employee discounts... !!!
Looking forward to hearing your update on what you decide to do!

How much fun would that be! I think you'd be great at it.. And the info you could pass on would be priceless.. BUT, like Tosca said, for me, it would cost me more.. I'd have to find a job just to support that job... I'd be signing my check over to them, plus adding to it.. |
