Hi,
Anyone got a blackhead remover? Would you say it works effectively in removing blackheads or is it easier using fingers?
Thanks |

| i have one! it is awesome actually and better than using your fingers definitely. make sure you extract after a warm shower and press gently or else you can still scar yourself. HTH |

I'm assuming it is the metal stick with a little loop at the end?
Well I would be very careful about using that for extractions. ONLY use it if the blackhead is totally and utterly ready to come out, or else you risk actually damaging your skin by applying excessive pressure.
If you have a large-ish blocked pore, you can press the little loop on top of the pore, and it should squeeze the blackhead/whitehead out. But I find that, if the whitehead is ready to come out, you can just use a clay mask to draw it out naturally, instead of using the remover. |

I have the one from Tweezerman. Its double-ended. One side has a thick loop for whiteheads. On the other end, there is a thinner loop used for blackheads. I really like this one.
I also have another one that I bought when I was in Asia. This one was also double sided - one end had a needle like end, and the other side was a skinny loop. The loop one this was bad...it was thinner than the Tweezerman and did some serious damage to my skin.
I'd recommend the Tweezerman! |

definitely heed the warnings of the ladies here about taking out blackheads. i do use the extractor to take small cysts out, sometimes in a scraping motion and haven't scarred myself, but then again, i have had a lot of practice. if you have lots of blackheads or something, first try a peel off pore mask or a biore strip first.
get a really quality extractor. mine was a mehaz stainless steel extractor and it is fairly thick i think. i paid about $25 for it. HTH |

| I definitely second the Tweezerman one. I have used it for cysts/pimples that have come to head and no scarring so far. And it really gets all the gunk out safely too! But remember to wipe it with alcohol before and after each use. |
