my sister bought a l'occitane pure shea butter product from QVC.I have used this product once a day for about a couple of weeks now.It keeps my facial skin soft which is good. But i was just wondering should i continue using this pure shea butter product once a day or should i only use this pure shea butter product when i have dry skin on my face.Another thing so far i dont have any acne on my face, but just wanted to know what effect does using this pure shea butter product by l'occitane have with acne. Will it cause more acne, prevent acne,or does it have no relationship with acne.Obviously if it will cause more acne then i will stop using this pure shea butter product because i dont want any acne.Plz give me your views as soon as u can.Thanks.

Hi Zeus, I don't know if it could cause acne. But I do love their shea butter, I use it as a lip balm.
Fantasia,
l'occitane is a skincare brand. If you do a search I've done some reviews, and there might be others as well.

The shea butter shouldn't cause acne as it's 100% pure and isn't comodogenic. I would probably limit it to dry areas though. I've used this all over my face and I'm very prone to reacting to something if it blocks pores, I've never had a breakout with this, I even used it around my eye lid when I had a very severe reaction to a product and it was fantastic at taking down the redness and healing the itchy, dry patch.

I have the shea butter hand cream, I have no idea about the facial lotion. As far as the hand cream, the texture is rich and moisturizing, I use it only at night before going to bed, I like the smell too.

Zeus,

Are you talking about the pure shea butter that comes in the pot (and it's pretty much solid)? If so, do you find that it's a bit heavy for use on the face? I do actually have a little pot of this at home that I use as a lip balm sometimes and as a hand cream etc but I never thought to put it on my face because it just looks so scarily thick! While the shea butter is noncomodogenic, I presume it could break you out if it is too moisturising for you... Not quite sure what my reasoning is, it's just a hunch that's all!

yea mabsy thats the one i have(100% pure shea butter tin by l'occitane),altho i have the bigger tin.I have used it daily for about a month now and no spots at all.Yea i know what u mean that its thick,i just take a small amount of it and use it on my face and i also usually put a splash of water on my face after that to get rid of any excess shea butter. So do u guys think i should continue using this pure shea butter daily, since it moisturises the skin and i have been told it is recommended for us to moisturise daily.Oh by the way does anyone know what benefits my facial skin will be getting from using this pure shea butter on a daily basis. If so plz let me know.Thanks.

I guess if it's working for you and you've been using for a month you're probably in a better position to tell us about it:D

Thanks for clarifying Zeus. I'm with Eve on this one. If it ain't broken don't fix it! So if you've used it for a month (long enough to see if your skin would break out) and your skin is loving it then just continue doing what you're doing. Not sure what benefit you're getting out of it but I have read that pure shea butter is excellent for moisturing the skin.

Make sure you use sunblock too though. No amount of quality moisturing ingredients will be able to reverse the effects of sun damage Wink

I use Nasabb's pure unrefined shea butter and I have sensitive, acne prone skin. This is really good for bumps and blemishes. It will not clog your pores nor will it make you break out. I've been using it for about 3 months and my dark spots are fading. I only use it at night and I glob it on my face lol....I used to use it in the morning very sparingly an although it wasn't leaving my skin as oily as I thought, my face would get a bit oily by the days end. Plus, I needed to wear sunscreen so now I just use the sunscreen in the morning. HTH;)
