For those of you who use TCA peels- do you moisturize directly after? I do (I've only donr 12.5% peels) because I've read places that it helps to prevent scarring, but I've also heard that moisturizing interferes with the peel and could make it less effective. I just thought that moisturizing would delay the peeling process, not make the peel less effective. What do you girls do when you use peels? Thanks! |

Hi deleated! Yes, I moisturize immediately after, although it's just with neosporin ointment and aquaphor. I can't even imagine going through a TCA peel without moisturizer, but then again I have normal to dry skin anyways. I'm 99.9% certain that you should moisturize afterwards (with an included topical antiobiotic) and that those that don't only think that it helps them to peel faster. However, at least as far as I know, your skin can only heal/peel so fast and not giving it the nourishment it needs would only create more problems (extreme dryness, itching, more likely to scar, etc.). Besides, I MUCH prefer the kind of peeling that's soft and easy to remove than that dry dandruff look that makes you look like your diseased or something!
I'm interested to see what others think on this as well! |

Thanks! We must have been responding to eachother's posts at the same time I agree with everything you said, I can't imagine not moisturizing either! I've had great results from moisturizing after, and I'd be worried about laughing while having super dry peeling skin and cracking my skin or something:oops:. I guess people think that it seems like the peel works better since the skin is more obviously flakey, but it seems like as long as the damage is done(the peel itself) the correct way, the skin will have the same (if not better) long term response if it was moisturized. |
