You can help to dry them out by dabbing them with a little perfume or aftershave. It does sting a wee bit, though! |

Cold sore remedies should be readily available at any drugstore. I bought one once with lysine in it-- seemed to do the trick. |

I have used Abreva with good success, I also just recently bought one called Lycort? I do believe is the correct name. I will tell you though, when I need to get rid of it quick (and I am okay with a scab for a couple days). I use a warm compress and pop those blisters. I then apply good ol fashion rubbing alcohol, a few times a day. At night, I put a big glob of Neosporin. It is usually only a matter of 3 days and it is already going away. |

A few drops of lemongrass essential oil applied directly to the cold sore works well for me (catching it at the onset is best). |

I just got one of those BIG ugly things on my lip 3 days ago. Just a day before I started a new job. Figures! I was desperate to get rid of it as it was so ugly and painful, I tried almost all remedies recommended on EDS forums (toothpaste, teatree oil, sulfite from matches, nail polish remover) and in 3 days it as good as gone!!! I am not sure what helped the best, I kept applying all of them (not at the same time of course), although I suspect toothpaste helped the best. I think this is the fastest I have ever gotten rid of one withour the help of prescription Valtrex. I'm thrilled! |

I'm not plagued by 'em, but I do get one every now and then... Maybe once every other year. I'm SO happy it isn't more often... A few doses of Valtrex and constant use of Abreva usually speed things up. After a few days you'd never know I had one. |

I get them INSIDE my nose almost every time I get a cold. Pain redefined!
Now I start taking lysine suppliments at the first sign of a cold or flu. For prevention 500mg morning and night and for treatment 1000mg morning and night. You will possibily still get a small one, but no big nasty blister and no huge scab.
If I have forgotten teh lysine or not taken it in time, then I dab rubbing alcohol on the blister or even mint toothpaste to dry them up. |
