Hello, im new here. Ive read so much about exfoliation and how important that is for you, espeacially if you have acne prone skin like i do. Now, the thing is that i cant find the answer on how to exfoliate the areas on your face where you have facial hair grown, a beard for example. Shaving is one tip yes, but i prefer having beard. Are there any good ways of doing it? And also, how can i be sure that i have done it right? I mean, when i exfoliate my nose, around the nose, cheeks, foreheard etc. i can feel that i have done it right beacuse it feels very smooth and soft, but its hard to tell on the areas where you have facial hear?
Really appreciate answers, thanks! |

You might find it easier to exfoliate with a very soft brush or dilute acid than a scrub. Less is more when you have acne, you don't want to damage the skin's barrier function because this protects against bacteria. Are you using a gentle zinc oxide sunscreen daily? This is a natural way to control bacteria without irritating the skin. |

Salicylic acid is excellent for exfoliating acne-prone skin if your main issue is clogged pores, and it also has mild anti-inflammatory properties. However, it is fat soluble so can be quite drying so may be too harsh if you struggle with hydration or flakies. It's worth trying to be a bot of a detective with your acne because there are many contributory factors. Some people have a stressful lifestyle/ imbalanced diet that is causing excess production of sebum OR the wrong balance of fatty acids in the sebum. Some are over-cleansing or over-exfoliating so damaging the skin's barrier function ... |
